There's not much risk in signing him to a minimum contract. Who knows, maybe the guy catches lightning in a bottle one last time as a DH bench option.

Definitely not this year, and surely Houston has the ability to go out and add a more reliable bat this offseason.

Yeah, I just meant for the rest of the season. I mean there is literally zero risk in signing him at this point. If he sucks you cut him. If he finds his swing then you add a veteran presence for the stretch drive. He's no worse than Gogo. LOL

Teams that release 41-year old's who bat .200/.248/.350/.598, not the ones that sign them, are the ones that succeed.

    Not even a little bit.

At this point, if we can't win with the guys we have, we don't need to win.

Pay him the minimum. DH him. Bat him 8th and Kemp 9th.

I prefer him over Tucker & White no doubt about it. Put him in a playoff race & in a better lineup & who knows. I have no doubt that after the way the Yanks have handled this he'll try to continue playing & get to 700.

Put him in a playoff race?

Yankees are 6.5 out of their division we are 5.5 out of ours

We are 2 back of wild card, they are 3.5 back

Our playoff chances are a little better, but the difference ain't much

    I don't want ARod. But... I can't disagree here.

At the same time, once Gurriel and Valbuena are in the lineup, doesn't that allow Marwin and Reed to hold down the DH spot? With Gattis mixing in occasionally? I think I'm good with Reed continuing to grow as a part-time DH. There will be enough space on the roster for all these guys in September.

All depends on when they think Valbuena will be back. If it's not for a while, give ARod a shot in the meantime.

And regardless, I think ARod goes to the Marlins ("home", Bonds reclamation project, playoff hunt also, etc.) if he goes anywhere. He wants to be in the one place he's kind of still loved.

I'm interested in A-Rod getting passed over for the HOF for at least 5 years after he's eligible, so really I don't have to be interested in A-Rod for at least a decade.
