Umm no, middle aged Asian male. I do live in a small city, so the cops here are pretty friendly, they helped me change my flat tire one time too.

One time was drive faster than speed limit to get prescription for my kid. One time was a stop sign, did not stop completely, just said I was sorry. The last one was a while back, cannot even remember.

Couldn't he just write the ticket to the license plate like parking tickets? Got a few of those in college.

Sadly, this should be taught in all Elementary/Junior Highs in addition to Finance classes(which is another topic altogether).

Basically a 'how to take it up the ass for an entity that has ultimate authority over your life and allow that entity to go unchecked' course.

I'll acknowledge that U.S. law enforcement officers have more merit to desire such blatant servitude of its citizens when interacting with them relative to Euro cops primarily because of the second amendment and the mass circulation of firearms in this country.

Unfortunately I'm not sure it would help all that much, some people just aren't cut out to adult on that level and would likely just see being a civilized human being as some kind of oppression. I'm all for trying though, there's a chance that education would stop some of this.

No, it's just a simple, easy way to not escalate a situation and get unduly f***ed with. Right there in step 5 is a perfect opportunity to have a calm, adult discussion with the officer. Of course acting like a civilized adult is not foolproof, everyone acknowledges that some cops are indeed total assholes, but you'd be amazed how often it leads to at the very worst a mere minor traffic ticket.

That is a dumb question. He let her stay on the phone for several minutes while she was disobeying his orders. How long should a routine traffic stop take?

No, but when you get out of the car it immediately escalates the situation for the officer. He has to think of his safety too.

Exactly why was another officer needed? The officer did not do anything to the lady until she disobeyed him for several minutes. She called 911 saying the officer was rude to her and that she did not do what he stopped her for. He wasn't even rough when trying to handcuff her even though she was resisting. It appears she only wanted another officer to get out of the ticket or warning.

lol, she had no reason to be afraid unless she has bought into the "hands up don't shoot lie" perpetrated by the BLM movement and the media. The officer did nothing to threaten her. He may have raised his voice to tell her to get back in her car at first but getting out was stupid. They do that to ANYONE who gets out of a car regardless of race or gender.

Wow, this officers "restraint timer" went above and beyond most officers. He actually let her talk on the phone for several minutes.

Seriously, a bad officer??? Did you even watch the video?? This officer went way above in the patience and restraint department while trying to get her to comply and when she resisted arrest he showed incredible restraint not to take her down and cuff her. Please re-watch the video and take your bias blinders off and just look at the facts with a little common sense.

You know i've been pulled over a few times and not once have I jumped out of the car before the officer even gets there and started calling 911 for help.

Not a single time -- and best of all I haven't been arrested, shot, or taken a beating for escalating a routine traffic stop into a resisting arrest charge.

Why do some people have such a difficult time with this simple concept?

Not surprising coming from you, that's an incredibly inaccurate and ignorant idea of Libertarian beliefs. Libertarians aren't Anarchists, and that's what you are describing.

Also, why would someone making an ass out of themselves resulting in getting thrown in jail be something a Libertarian would defend? Sure Libertarians are big on defending the rights of the people, but the people don't have the right to do what she did.....so, yeah.

So "freedom" loving libertarians believe that folks should be routinely arrested just for talking back to the police when given a ticket?

I think this is just another example of the authoritarianism that tends to be a personality trait of many conservatives.

Freedom loving Libertarians should believe in knowing and following the law. As such, yes, those who refuse lawful orders during an official stop by police should be routinely arrested. People should also be routinely arrested for breaking other laws in front of cops too.

At some point you just have to realize what these people are doing wrong and say...

That's right, it was a metro cop. Well he hasn't gotten anything else right lately, why would he have started with that?

She escalated it when she made false claims of harassment.

Nah, she escalated it when she refused to cooperate with the officer and obey the lawful orders she was given. That alone is grounds for arrest.

Well, yeah, everything she did in this encounter was wrong and further escalating a minor traffic violation. But it's when she claims harassment is when the officer has lost his patience. He shouldn't have to stand there while she falsely accuses him of misconduct and patiently wait for her to show identification.
