??? It has nothing about any of that. They are monitoring his innings and letting him slowly test himself.
None of their other HS picks threw 130ish innings through high-level playoffs, throwing 100+ pitches every 4-5 days.
Not sure what that has to do with what I said though. LMJ only had 11 innings or so (4 games). Correa, Ruiz, Tucker, and Cameron all struggled in the GCL for about a month, but were still promoted to Greeneville. I just think that is how the organization likes to treat their HS players.
You and I just see these things differently. I see the Stros as not wanting to shoot their wad on a year when they are a year/or/two away from serious contention. You wanted them to go for it all now. I get it.
Hell, Ol' Wayne would have had McCullers, Velasquez, Musgrove, Feliz and Rogers all on the DL by now with "elbow soreness". He did yousta coach some hitters though.
gtfo with that. Gustafson and Garrido's track records are far worse than "Ol' Wayne's". Garrido threw a guy (Austin Wood) 169 pitches in relief! Just LOL
Oh I knew I'd get a response with that, like pavlov's dogs. I should have set a timer. And yes, I know Gus and Augie are not saints in that regard, nor is Marquess, Bertman, Polk, Frasier, Morris, etc... no college coach is. How many badass first round starting pitchers has Wayne coached? How many have had their careers ended by arm trouble before the age of 26ish? The answer is "all of them". Why is that?
Very lazy thinking and ignorance on your part. I guess Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were ruined by Wayne? All 1st round draft picks get checked out thoroughly by the teams that pick them. You should know that. So teams decided that Jeff Niemann, Phillip Humber, Wade Townsend, Joe Savery, etc all were healthy when selected. If you want to have some fun reading, google "Wade Townsend vs Keith Law" twitter fight for Wade to completely obliterate Law (who is the main guy pumping out the anti-Wayne message). What you don't understand is that Wayne and his staff get every ounce of talent out of their recruits. And by the way - Rice has never gotten top caliber recruits - those players go to UT-Austin, A&M, LSU, etc. Rice gets good players that Wayne and his staff "coach up", with their specialty being pitching. So it's not that big of a shock when Wayne develops them into 1st round talents, and then they don't always pan out in MLB, as more talented pitchers get high quality coaching for sometimes the first time and pass them. ...and by the way - UT-Austin knows this, as they just hired Wayne's pitching coach from the 2000s as the new Longhorns head coach - David Pierce.
Dude, relax We have the 3rd best farm system in all of baseball! That's what really matters. Those parades when you end the year with the best farm system, they are the best
