No one is saying they were. Asking someone to use common sense when you can't read basic, simple text. Kid, pick up a book and get to learning. Embarrassing.
Yeah I know but at some point a manager has to say enough of this BS and stand up for his players. Hell if I'm going out I'm going out with a bang!
Ok thanks dude. You said we weren't willing to give up Tucker and White. That comment implies you think teams wanted those 2 players in a trade and we refused. I don't really want to go down this rabbit hole but what am I misunderstanding here?
Not saying that Tucker and White were the make or break prospects at the deadline but I kept reading reports that for the level of prospects the Rangers gave to get Beltran, the Astros could have landed him too without having to deplete or give up their more treasured prospects. Oh well. The team offense is just sad right now.
a) Who says White and Tucker could have brought one back? b) these are the types of posts that indicate that posters actually do think Reed's career is over and he's relegated to being "AAAA" forever (vs. hyperbole)
Keep in mind that each team values prospects differently. So possibly the minimum the Yankees take from us for Beltran is Reed or even Martes. I wouldn't do that trade. We don't know what the asking price was from our particular farm system but we can all be 100% sure that neither Preston Tucker nor Tyler White could have netted us a roster improvement. The major league team could certainly have been improved but only time will tell whether our real deal prospects were worth hanging onto.
Pitching was never the main problem guys. Look at the statistics, the Astros just do not have enough consistent hitters. And they might lose one of their best ones in Valbuena in the offseason. Something needs to be done in the Winter to create some stability in the lineup.
The off season is where the front office needs to start doing more and opening up the check book really. Prospects are nice but they need some mixture of proven talent and they are learning the hard way right now.
I would understand the anger if people wanted to give up those prospects for Lucroy but Beltran? Nah.
What if it really was this simple?

Altuve on the recent offensive struggle: "Sometimes you're going to hit.
