To be called up so he can pitch innings if there is a blow out instead of someone of actual mlb value or someone who needs time to develop in minors.
This is what happens when you bat a bunch of below .200 hitters. Gurriel will help, but Luhnow needs to make an August trade for an avg hitter.
It's not easy to travel from Kissimmee to Fresno, hell, it's not easy to travel from anywhere to Fresno. So he got a workout/day off. That's one of the huge reasons they want out of there.
Does anyone think Teoscar or even Kemmer get a call up soon? The next 2 weeks, I would like to see if Reed and Bregman can hold their own but if not, I think we should look at Teoscar, Kemmer and/or Kemp as call ups and not sure we can wait until September. I am sure the team is holding out hope for Marisnick, Gomez, and Rasmus to play well but it just seems unlikely. They seem to be showing some signs of life especially Marisnick but I believe Teoscar can contribute immediately as he hits Righties extremely well for some odd reason. You can start him in RF with Springer in CF against Righties and either Rasmus or Kemp or Bregman in LF. Against Lefties you can play Jake or Gomez. I just don't think everyone of our prospects will falter. The odds of so many starting out poorly is mind boggling. I have seen mediocre prospects like Tyler White, Jimmy Paredes, etc. come up and at least contribute for a couple of weeks until they are figured out. Just amazing no one besides White has been able to contribute this year so I think we play the odds and see if 1 or 2 of Kemp, Teoscar or Kemmer can contribute. Maybe we wait until September but we could be toast by then if the lack of production keeps up. Anyways, I would like to see Kemp again as at least he seemed like he had a good approach and could prove valuable as an 8 or 9 hitter with speed and the ability to get on base. I would rather Teoscar or Kemp be up right now instead of Tucker. I am a pretty big fan of Tucker but his swing just doesn't seem quick enough for the majors. He pops up so many balls it is hard to keep track of.
I would be pretty surprised if they called up Teoscar and absolutely shocked if they called up Kemmer at any point this season. Hernandez will probably be added to the 40 man this offseason but as long as Gomez and Rasmus are still around there really isn't room for him. And Kemmer had a bad first half and is just starting to produce in AAA. As a defensively limited prospect without a pedigree, he's going to have to rake over the course of a full year in AAA before he gets an opportunity, and even then there will need to be room on the major league roster. His best bet is to hope to get picked in the Rule 5 draft or traded to a rebuilding team that has a need for a corner OF.
Yea I know we don't have they money to get him there that quick so that's cool Like I said, we are rolling on offense right now anyway, so no rush
For those wondering -- double and home run today. He had been on a home run drought, but that's two in just a handful of games. Elieser Hernandez put together 8 innings of 3 hit shutout ball. No walks, 8 ks.
bill brown slipped up on the telecast the other night and said gurriel would come up for the cardinals series. probably legit
