Appears that you can get MLB-TV Premium now through March 2017 for $18 (when it autorenews for regular price of $110/yr). http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?partnerId=ed-10648105-55428157 So questions to anyone who has purchased MLB-TV Premium: Do local blackouts prevent you from using this in our area? It mentions some "Follow Your Team" capability which might avoid blackouts, but unclear whether that is available in our area. Is it easy enough to cancel? Seems like getting it for $18 (versus $110) sounds like a great deal, but only if its easy to cancel. Any other feedback on how well MLB-TV Premium works would be much appreciated.
Yes, you will be blacked out of Astros games if you live in Houston. Or Dallas. And I think Austin too. However, there are ways around that, especially on a laptop. Not sure of their legality.
Follow your team doesn't prevent local blackouts. All it does is if you have Root Sports, you won't be blacked out on MLB.tv. Auto-renew can be turned off. I've also easily gotten the charge refunded after auto-renewal. This year they offered a discounted renewal price, so they may do it again. You can also choose to switch to Single team next year in order to save money. It is a great product, and I highly recommend it. I've had it for the past 4 seasons
