He doesn't look ready but that can change quickly with a couple of well timed swings of the bat. Give him the rest of this homestand in the two hole to see if a steady diet of fastballs gets him going.
Part of me wants him to be in the lineup everyday in the 2-hole, thinking he'll adjust. Though he should sit today -- seems like several players had to talk to him to cool down before his last AB and then he struck out and showed some anger. Some frustration setting in - maybe an off day wouldn't be the worst thing.
That's unfortunate to hear. Didn't see his AB's last night but that has to be frustrating. I figured he would get a knock in 6 AB's last night and I am sure he thought so too. Probably should see where his head is at and let him take a break if it calls for it. I do think running him out there in the 2 hole will speed up his development and get his confidence up once he finds some success. Glad we won the game last night so maybe he can look past his performance and be glad is 0-6 didn't cost us a game luckily. On to the next one...
The problem is, until Marwin and/or Valbuena return, who do we put at third? Marisnick was our only bench player last night.
Despite the team's attempt to bring him up at a point where he wouldn't feel the pressure to produce, the kid has been put in some high stress situations. Last night wasn't any different. He comes up with a man on 2nd and he gets to face one of the best young closers in the league. Hope he doesn't get too down on himself and can turn it around.
You're right, which is probably a good thing for his development. Once they struggle, then you bench them, seems like its hard to come back from that. I'd be okay with just letting him play his way out of it. Also on a similar note -- I LOVE what he brings to 3rd. Great infielder, hope we keep him there instead of sticking him in LF.

When do you guys think he will finally start to pick it up? After sending him down to minors? I don't worry about him being a bust going forward because his entire plate approach looks great minus his timing etc. But we are in a middle of trying to make a playoff run and it would help tremendously if he can pick it up soon.
Other than Altuve our entire lineup is a bunch of high strikeout guys low contact guys. Even springer and correa go into long hitting slumps.
1 for 31 though is just terrible. You have to think at this point that with Valbuena due back and Gurriel on his way within the next two weeks, he is going to have to go nuts to avoid being sent down.
Tough lesson for Bregman. I don't think he thought he'd be owned by major league pitching like he has. Tough pill to swallow. But let's not forget he was just drafted one year ago. He's moved up the minors in a flash, no shame being sent back down to get some confidence back.
I think he got too cocky for his own good...he started believing that he more than belonged in the majors...and now he got slapped with a dose of reality. The MLB is a completely different beast.
It almost seems like the philosophy at the ML level is bad. I mean Reed was doing well in AAA and he comes up and falls flat on his face. Now Bregman does the same after ripping apart AAA. I don't understand how a guy can destroy the ball everywhere he's been, but he can't get a hit in the majors.
Yea, glad we kept all these grade A prospects at the trade deadline. Hopefully they pan out but right now they couldn't hit a beach ball with a ironing board.

Just like Reed (and seemingly every freaking player on our big league team), Bregman is pulling off of the outside pitches trying to hit everything to the left side. I swear it's a philosophical thing. Look at the Team Pull and Oppo percentages and the Astros/Rays are at the top and it isn't even close. It is so frustrating because we watch guys roll over so much on pitches away.
