These are the headline Trump created over the weekend. You want CNN to FoXNews it and ignore the stupid and crazy? CNN will give false equivalence where they can. Trump is masterfully creating narratives to which there is no Democratic equivalence. But which of those stories is false?
You're leader made the bed for himself. Aren't you guys from r/the_donald all about this "free publicity", "donald controls the media" thing? Donald keeps talking and Donald keeps getting reactions.
The Donald got over $2 billion in free media coverage during the primaries. He is out of free pass season now. Now he is expected to offer policy ideas and debate his stances. He is still gonna get the majority of the spotlight. The words coming out of his mouth will determine the tone on that coverage. Atracking the Khans and the Ukraine and Putin statements would sink most candidates.
It's about media manipulation. You should read a book on this subject. CNN has dedicated the entire home page to create a negative perception on a candidate.
I took a look at the Fox News home page yesterday. The #1 item on it was the tragic hot air balloon accident that killed 16 people. As for CNN, I thought the Official Right Wing position is that the network, like MSNBC, is irrelevant in light of the domination of Fox News? Also, meanwhile at the Rupert Murdoch-owned NY Post: [Spoiled for possible NSFW] Spoiler

Today's cover: Melania Trump like you've never seen her before https://t.co/wkoDGWTF9g pic.twitter.com/V375rBTUEw
— New York Post (@nypost) July 31, 2016

A quick search of various news homepages, and CNN does appear to be going heavier on this than many of the others. That said, Fox News is just the opposite. And almost all of them, Fox News aside, would seem similarly biased since, as noted, Donald has created this news-storm himself. Most have the McCain story front and center, for example.
I have more than read books on the subject. I have taught classes on it. You should stop shilling for political parties and unqualified candidates. CNN is reporting facts. Trump did this. Trump said these things, created these conflicts, and inspired these responses from McCain and the Khan family. Every media outlet out side of Fox and right wingtopia is running these stories. CNN doesn't have to create a negative perception. Trump is doing that on his own. Thing is: Trumo could easily take this thing if he just dropped the stupid statements. He owns the spotlight. And this is what he does with it...
CNN has generally been all in on reporting on Trumo. They like celebrity news and he is a very hot topic. I expected the media news cycle to be: Trump talks and sets the story ---> everyone responds to it ---> Trump changes the topic to new story. And so on, just as it has been pretty much this whole year. And Trump has done that but by saying some ridiculously stupid things. If he said sane or reasonable things without lying or just sounding ignorant, then the stories would be different but the spotlight would still be his. And his supporters would then be bragging about the coverage instead of lamenting it.
If Trump wouldn't say stupid things then it wouldn't be on the front page. You are trying to blame others for Trumps actions... T_Man
I'm not saying they are false stories or narratives. I just quickly pulled up 10 or so major news homepages, and as I noted, while most lead with similar stories, and similarly would seem to be pro-Clinton/anti-Trump, Fox News aside, CNN does indeed appear to have gone the heaviest on this. Which is fine, they can do what they want.
Trump defenders say the opposite. They love CNN going all Trump while not covering Hillary. It's free publicity for Trump and he stays in the minds of voters without paying a cent. Are you scared of CNN? If you think so highly of him and your fellow supporters why does this matter?
I'm not saying anything on CNN is lies. Everything on there is facts and Trump has said it himself but I what I'm trying to make you understand is that CNN purposely choosing what to cover as long as the thing they're covering hurts Trump's image. For example look at how CNN and other liberal news outlets covered Khan family and the DNCleak. DNCleak barely got any coverage on CNN, why do you think that is? Who does the DNCleak hurt? When the DNCleak finally got some media attention it was more about Putin and Russia then actual content of the emails. Meanwhile, the Khan family story has gotten non-stop coverage since his speech on Thursday. Everyone knows these kind of coverage will hurt Trump.
I'd say Trump's campaign is what contributed to the negative perception of himself more so than a media news outlet.
The DNC leak was getting coverage until Trump created new 24-hour news cycles. Hell, CNN interviewed Julian Assange and had the interview on the front page with the statement from Assange that "we have more on Hillary Clinton" and that the next round of leaks would be "interesting". You need to understand that these corporations make money off eyeballs. And they ride what is hot. And it looked like the DNC and Clinton weren't gonna get favorable coverage until Trump put his foot in his mouth at least 4 times since Khan's speech. Compare Teumps reaction to Bush's reaction to Cindy Sheehan and Clinton's Fox interview reaction to the mother of the CIA contractor that spoke during the republican convention. Both were textbook examples of showing empathy and de-escalating the story. That is all Teump needed to do and the media would have moved on to the next story. But no, Teumo attacked and the Khan's responded, etc. Trump makes headlines. And he can influence what headlines run: and he has. Clinton is a pretty bad candidate, honestly. But Trump is orders of magnitude worse and the center piece of the collapse of the GOP coalition. He could have been a proper statesman and made informed statements and hit Clinton, but he didn't. He lashed out and lied. No conspiracy theory needed.
Definitely true. Making enemies of GOP stalwarts and those stalwarts speaking it against him, essentially putting party over Trump and country over party, is a major narrative that deserves attention. It is a subplot that will draw headlines every time a Republican speaks against Trump or has to disavow his latest statements. These are major stories.
