But to answer your question, I'd suggest golf as well. Play during twilight if you don't want to be in the scorching sun (plus cheaper rates).

You could enter rock-paper-scissors tournaments. I am guessing training is completely optional.

It's hotter than hell in the middle of summer?

    Swim.

Take some golf swing lessons and go out in the fall; and start hiking or biking once the weather's nice.

Moto Ball. You are off your feet, you learn to ride a motorcycle, and chicks dig the motorcycle.

I'll see the golf suggestion, and raise you disc golf. It's free and easier to get started!

I started playing disc golf about 3 or 4 years ago when my body started breaking down from too many basketball injuries. Really fun and lots of walking. Good community.

Hot dog eating contest. Competitive, foot problems and poor cardio health wouldn't be sucha detriment either. The sun doens't become much of a factor as you can practice indoors.

    Give it a shot.

Take up tennis and join a beginners or 40+ League

You would obviously need to get past the sun and feet issues.

Depends where you go I guess. The gym I went to for years had ladder play on 1 night and an "open court" every night where you could challenge the winner.

How about indoor badminton? I saw a news story about it few weeks back a new badminton center opened up in Stafford called Houston Badminton Center. The owner of the place said they do training and they hold tournaments. The fees seem reasonable for something you might not consider liking but want to try.

Badminton is so much freaking fun. I'm not ashamed to say I could play some badminton almost daily if available.
