In the first place, I don't trust statistics fully... especially the self-reported kind. I can't respond about crime but I see a lot of vitriol about cops and I am not as convinced that cops are hunting criminals as i am that criminals are hunting cops. Illegal immigration reduction is in part due to the loss of zest for coming here as things have flattened. There is also a big fuss about allowing an influx on non- or casually vetted Syrians into this country-- mosts of whom are truly victims in the situation, but what if 400 of 60,000 are radicalized or burgeoning radicals? That's a heap of trouble... and I think that is what The Donald is barking about. The unemployment stats are usually deceptive. The newer jobs are at best 30% what the old careers were. In pay. In potential. Then, of course, there re the vast numbers who have just dropped out in discouragement and are not even counted anymore. Ultimately, the threat of the Caliphate hangs over everything. That is the plan, period. The numbers are showing that it is becoming inevitable, whether my grandchild and grandchildren to be might suffer or their children or grandchildren be the ones. If we leave it along, the Constitution and America will be over-run.
The 'Night of' posts exemplifies the paradigm that Commadore is in. He can't fathom a normal Brooklyn Muslim family that doesn't shout 'ALLAH AHKBAR!' every 5 minutes being the center piece of a tv series to the point where he believes it's HBO sending a political message about Islam being peaceful.
If we were constantly being asked to speak publicly and every word was recorded and played out of context, no one's image could survive. I don't see you chortling about all of Hillary's inaccurate proclamations about her handling of SD emails or her response in the ensuing investigation. What the Republican Party Platform says prevails over Trump's shouts. After all, he would only be the Chief Executive of a nation ruled by law authored by 435 legislators.
It's **** like this that idiots like you try to post and hope it sticks. Do you know the average vetting processing time for a Syrian refugee entering the States? Anything about our system of vetting being 'casual' is pure asinine conjecture based out of a jingoists *******.
um, no not really When the caliphate wipes out 20 million people or so they will make it up to the historical varsity team. Those guys didn't end up winning either though. Again (maybe in another thread) your perception is being shaped by the mass availability of information and it's commercialized nature (if it bleeds it leads). It's designed for maximum visceral response because it's naturally addicting due to our evolutionary fight or flight response... we pay attention to danger. They use that attention to sell you crap and profit. Cold hard statistics and analysis are the paths to truth but humans are less attentive detail. We won't watch it religiously.
I am surprised that the Caliphate features so prominently over everything to you. Are you worried about enough Muslims coming to the U.S. and establishing a Caliphate here? I really don't see how the numbers will work. Among 320 million Americans, currently 0.9% are Muslims. The vast majority of these Muslims have little taste for a ISIS-style government to rule over them. We are either gonna have to import hundreds of millions of jihadists (or radical Islamists or however you want to call them) or convince hundreds of millions of Americans to convert to jihadism for anything close to a caliphate to happen. Yes, we have some jihadists in the U.S. and some of them can do damage in the scale of San Bernardino or Orlando. These events are terrible, but death by jihadism is still a relatively minor risk compared to everything else that can kill us. Just this morning, 16 people were tragically killed in a hot air balloon accident, for example. And and number of non-jihadist-related shootings far outweigh the jihadist-relate ones. And I am not sure why you said Bernie or Ted would do better protecting us from this risk.
As far as my comment on trends, I was referring to the whole roster of speakers at the DNC not just Hillary. See my response to FB for a general summary there. I liked a lot of Sanders' idea. I want a re-imagining of how we spend our tax dollars. I'm for a national healthcare plan because I've seen the downside of not having one. I liked Cruz' dedication to the Constitution. My daughter, the one who has gifted us a grandchild, was born with something called Cantrelle's Syndrome; dextroversion of her heart, all heart chambers riddled with pinholes and holes, bad valve function, incomplete muscuclature in her lower abdomen (emphalocile hernia made her look like a bullfrog) and missing the lower third of her rib cage. She endured 7 heart surgeries or invasive procedures between the ages of 3 and 18. She celebrated her HS graduation by having a heart valve replacement a week after graduating. She would never qualify for health insurance if we or she had had to buy it. Our and her only hope was group health benefits until the ACA as imperfect as it is came long. Fortunately, her husband works for a Danish company in the Research Triangle and they have pretty secure benefits. I'm able to resist dismissing Bernie as a Socialist. I like some of his ideas more than others but I thought he had a certain integrity to his vision that would have been good for us-- unlike Hillary who has numbers bed partners in the world of big banking.
Trump is an historical embarrassment for our politics. Mr. Bone-spurs McDaddy'sMoney has never sacrificed anything for anyone, let alone this country. He is running a cynical campaign, using hate to rally the support of people his own ghost writer says Trump sees as morons. Shameful.
I've heard two years. So far 3500 of the 10,000 goal. If there is anything that a terrorist would need to do first, it would be to get into this country. Do you not think they have the motivation or the capability to create a facade that would gain entry? Naive.
High level officials such as former military commanders and intelligence officers have explicitly stated that Islamic terrorists entering the US through refugee status is quite literally the least efficient way to go about entering the US.
Look what's happening in Europe. I saw some detail on this. The European population is not even replacing itself. Childbirth rates vary but are less than 2:1 of native Europeans, while the Muslim-Europeans are at 6:1 or so. I think France is on track to be a Muslim majority by 2045 or thereabouts. Some have been all over ATW's posts about what's going on in Europe. I kept defending him saying effectiively "you have not walked in his shoes." They are a decade or two ahead of us in this matter. Unless we take steps to stop it, it will happen here. Do you deny that that is the goal of The Muslim Brotherhood? The night Wilt scored 100, his fist basket only counted two points. The math works if we let it. The US may be too open-minded and -hearted for its own good.
If you're talking about immigration screening, individual evaluations won't work logistically (I don't think a blanket Muslim ban would work either. Geographic ban would probably be most effective). If we aren't more selective about who we let in, we will end up like Europe, with weekly mass killings in the name of Islam and no way to prevent it once they have established enclaves inside throughout the country.
Sigh... The mass refugee crisis in Europe has more to do with geographic location and expediency. Syrian refugees are not going to wash ashore on America's coastline. You are stupid. The US has FAR MORE INHERENT control in who enters this country from the Middle East precisely because of our geographic advantage of being across the ****ing Atlantic ocean.
Well, of course, but they ARE here; how did that happen? WE are the Great Satan not Belgium, France or Germany. We are the GRAND PRIZE. Grow up and stop calling names, BTW.... an indirect tribute to ATW. I"M TAKING THE KIDS SWIMMING....
Their son died by a Muslim, in a Muslim country in a war that Trump opposed but yet they support a candidate that supported the Iraq war.
A couple things: 1. The Muslim population in the U.S. is very different than those in Europe in number, economic and education status. As has been pointed out, geography is a big part of this: where as Europe has many Muslims from North Africa and the Middle East who migrated there to seek refuge from war or poverty, the U.S. is much harder to get to. So not only do we have fewer migrants from these countries, the Muslim immigrants we do have are often better off than those in Europe in terms of economic and education status. These folks, like Mr. Khan who came to the U.S. to attend law school, are much less likely to turn to jihadism. Yes, we do have isolated cases like the San Bernardino shooters, but there really isn't going to be anything close to the kind of assimilation issues that we see in Europe. 2. The U.S. has also had a much better ability in terms of cultural assimilation and adaptation. Here in California, we have many immigrants from East Asia, Mexico and elsewhere and the things are not falling apart. We are doing better than, say, Kansas, which is 86% white and I presume relatively few recent-generation immigrants.
