I don't have accounts but I can make one. Although I'm hesitant, they'll probably think I'm trolling. Anyone post over there? Another option is to posting on Reddit
Harden is top 5 no doubt based purely on offense alone. He is an elite play maker and scorer than can be plucked from the Rockets and tossed into any situation and succeed. He can run a team's offense and be its leading scorer so yea top 5.
Leonard surpassed Harden in TS% for the first time last year, something I did not expect. .616 vs. .598 He shot 44% from 3, just ridiculous.
Wrong again.... Harden's averages were on par with his reg season averages and this is a garbage narrative by haters.
Clearly due to offense and we saw Kawhi struggle.... We all know how much Harden cooks OKC often with a inferior team and more focus on him defensively.
Except the problem was that Kawhi was expected to be that or at least he was used as that throughout the year. Who gets more minutes? Who gets more shots? Who gets more points? Kawhi. And yeah he failed... With better defenders, passers, and scorers around him than Harden. Now you nailed it right here.... Individual elite perimeter offense »»»»»»»»»»»»» individual elite perimeter defense. Above average offense and elite defense doesn't cut it.
My question is, does anyone have stats on how many of those are open shots. Spurs run a lot of plays to get Kawhi open looks at midrange and perimeter. IMO Kawhi's performance is really the masterpiece creation of Pop's great player development and the Spurs offensive schemes and willingness to buy into Pop's system. Unfortunately, we never had the luxury of a coach like Pops who IMO is the greatest coach in NBA history.
Yeah I wouldn't do the bet.... Simply cuz there's an implicit bias or personal agenda against Harden not just by the media, but by most NBA fans... Especially the casual or ones that don't watch game in game out. A lot of the Harden isn't even top 10 crew.
I think there's definitely a system and coaching component, but it still takes Kawhi putting in the work and improving his offensive game. Spurs have had a decent amount of roster turnover outside of the big 3 so they aren't really turning okay players into stars.
Oh Kawhi definitely put in a TON of hard work. Guy is a class act and has super high work ethic. It doesn't change the point I was making, which is that I believe a good amount of his points are manufactured for him and without the Spurs and Pops, I personally highly doubt he would be anywhere as good as he is now. There is a reason so many teams other than the Rockets had passed him up.
He's not as big a creator as a LeBron or someone like that. It would be interesting to see him in another system. He only plays 33 mpg currently. And they guy is only 24/25.
It definitely will be interesting to see how he continues to develop. Personally, I don't think he can ever carry a team the way Harden can and that's due to me believing he simply lacks the ability to generate points by himself when the offense and plays get bogged down. That's where ISO creators really shine, when everything around them becomes chaotic.
Offensively he's not gonna be that guy, I agree. Only 2.8 assists per game. That seems crazy low. But who knows. He killed us in the post last game though.
That's not a very high standard unfortunately. That's like playing limbo with the bar set at 6ft tall.
Haha, yep. That was one of those games (along with the Cleveland game) that got me so mad because we were trying to "turn the corner" and they came out with ZERO effort
A vast majority of them... 86% of his threes are catch and shoot... Harden shoots over 40% on catch and shoot threes himself, but he doesn't get as many spot up or off ball opportunities due to coaching and largely personnel. For example... Kawhi had 286 FGA on spot ups in 72 games... 1.25 PPP 96th percentile That's more than Klay Thompson and Klay played 8 more games. Harden had 170 FGA on spot ups in 82 games... 1.27 PPP Also 96th percentile... So he's actually just as good or slightly better than Kawhi in that aspect and look who he plays with.
And what do you think will happen? Do you think he will still be the primary play maker? Do you think he will still be the "guy"? He is top 5.
