Folks, RocketsLegend is a character on the internet. That's not a real person expressing real thoughts. So argue with this character if it brings you joy, but just know it is otherwise a complete and total waste of your time.
Then I commend you on your worthwhile, on-topic comment about hating an entire religion. It's not a useless contribution at all. Please gift us with more of these comments.
You might want to brush up on his policies. I have looked them over. Many of them actually wouldn't make any difference to 90% of the population. For example his tax plan - loaded with goodies that he sells to the middle class even though they ALREADY ARE IN PLACE FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS. For instance he talks about ending the death tax. But you have to have an estate worth more than 5.5 million to be subject to the death tax. How many Americans die with that much? The idea that you don't pay tax if you are married and making less than $50K. News flash, you don't pay hardly any tax today in that situation. His plan would give his family $9 billion in tax breaks. It will ad $30 trillion dollars to the deficit - you would have to end Congress to pay for them. If you don't think this man is a demagogue who will transform this nation into something that is no longer America than you have no clue.
You never know what anyone really thinks or how they act within a society. But rigidly polarized posters do provide a foil for organizing rational arguments. Think of them as providing the catalyst to reasoned discussion. All I ever do here is flesh out my own opinions for myself anyway.
So you just felt the need to come into this thread to trash the religion of a man who lost his son, an American soldier, in Iraq. Classy stuff.
That's your comment in a thread about someone who lost their son? Class move, sir. If Islam is so awful, how come billions of decent people follow it and a very small percentage use it for evil purposes? Oh, b/c you're stupid? Winner! Thanks for playing.
It would be a dangerous mistake to take comfort in this notable exception as representative of Islam. no other religion has a weekly global body count in its name
You need to tune him out. People hate Islam, nothing we can do about that. Their logic is that guns don't kill people, people kill people. But when it comes to Islam - people don't kill people, Islam kills people.
Commodore is right about the body count, but my counter would be that I don't believe if you waived a magic wand and changed the religion of all the terrorists and soldiers in the Middle East that they'd lay down their arms and stop fighting. They would just have a different motivation.
Aaaannd you guys just allowed Commodore to bait you into turning this into another hate Islam thread. Thanks. ATW shouldn't be far off...
This is an absolutely wrong headed idea. Islam controls the way people think and for whatever reason that influence has a higher probability for causing them to think that killing other people in the name of God is ok than any other religion. So people do still kill people... some do so more than others.
Actually, Commodore's post, and the hatred towards a large group of people, based solely on their religion, seems exactly why Mr. Kahn's appearance at the DNC was so important, so powerful.
That speech is what America is all about. This is a country of immigrants who will die fighting for it. You destroy that welcoming culture and you destroy America, make it great.
So okierock, what did you think of Mr. Kahn's speech at the DNC? Your previous posts on the topic seem to focus on the candidates and the DNC, but not on what Mr. Kahn said.
