How much money is Trump paying Scottie Nell Hughes on top of what CNN is paying her... That woman is just ridicules and has no business on the air. T_Man
[Premium Post] The question is whether it's forced or not. It's definitely a gamble, given that PA, MI, WI have not gone red in quite some time. But whether it's forced or not is another matter, because the more Trump talks about immigration, I suspect the better he does in the rust belt. Blue collar union types hate illegals because they dramatically weaken unions' power. There are very few unions in the South because of this. So Trump has made the calculated choice to go hard after illegal immigration, recognizing that it hurts in some places, but helps dramatically in the rust belt.
Republicans have been destroying unions for decades. Ever heard of Scott Walker? What twilight zone episode are you in dude? Pfft.
[Premium and Educational Post] I do not dispute that Republicans have been going after unions for decades, as they rightly should -- unions distort the labor market by promoting people based on seniority and not merit, and by artificially inflating wages and benefits. This has the effect of raising unemployment and preventing high achievers from earning more money than low achievers. You can't fire union members, which lowers productivity and reduces the company's profit...which in turn risks the company's existence. Unions are horrible for an economy and any investor or manager, if given the choice, would choose a non-union labor force over a union force. You'd get 99% agreement on that question. But it is similarly undisputed that illegal immigration destroys workers' ability to organize... that much is obvious, because you can't organize effectively against a company's management if there are readily available replacements for your role. GOOD DAY
It's not the 19th century. Most companies outsource to workers overseas, not to workers who walked across the Mexican border.
I think you are missing the point. TJ is saying that Trump is trying to bring Rust Belt union people over to his side with his anti-illegal alien pitch. He knows that the Southwest and Florida aren't going to likely carry him so he's trying to target blue-collar Midwestern white men. He's gambling big on it from what I gather, and it's a strategy that may very well work for him.
So on one hand you want to destroy labor on the other hand you want to build a border wall to protect labor. Sounds coherent. You're the people that are the reason wages today are at the same levels as they were in 1996. Greedy corporate whores who would outsource janitors if they could. It's pretty hard for a Republican to make anything Trump says make any sense whatsoever but good job, good effort.
No, I know Trump is appealing to people on race. TJ tried to make it sound like it was an appeal to blue collar union labor. We know what the appeal really is here and it's got nothing to do with protecting union labor. Democrats are very strong on union labor. Trump is the 1950's white nationalist candidate.
Trump is trying to appeal the segment of voters that believe it's a good thing for foreign governments that are often hostile to democracy and the United States to hack into our nations email servers. That segment of the population now has a candidate that will speak for them.
I can't believe this. He actually now supports giving Russia Crimea???? http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/trump-crimea-sanctions-russia-226292
Yeah, it's very strange. It's odd that in his convention he talked about if Hillary gets elected she won't stand with our allies, and will be weak in the face of our enemies. Then he pulls this? Trump has called Elizabeth Warren names all over the place, but not only doesn't he criticize Putin, he goes overboard to show that he'll have the U.S. bowing down to Putin's will.
I think he very clearly is. Frankly he's tapping into the same anti-globalization vein that Sanders did. At the RNC and over the last week he's been making a very direct pitch to Sanders supporters to support by arguing that the Democratic party is corrupt and on trade issues.
Having a guy who is for American people and will put America first is truly a breath of fresh air. Can't wait until November.
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave. The evil empire he spent a lot of his life fighting is now in bed with the Republican candidate for President.
Trump can't claim that anymore, when he's inviting foreign powers to hack American emails, and applauding it when it happens. Trump is far from America first
Agreed. But for a Trump supporter to continue to say that Trump puts America first when Trump is hoping that a foreign power has hacked American govt. or American citizens' email and stolen documents. Hoping that hostile foreign powers hack Americans, isn't putting America first.
