My buddy that founded reddit shared the Trump AMA on fb. Surprised there wasn't more reaction to it. Almost like nobody cared. 10 comments in 2hrs?
They broke the reddit gold record (and had over 24000 comments). The post was number one on r/all and then reddit took it down. In its place are a couple of anti trump posts with less comments and likes. He answered 11 or 12 questions and delayed his rally. I think he answered more than Obama did. Didn't say anything different.
There is a long history of reddit censoring news and censoring the donald subreddit. It started with the Orlando shooting when the news subreddit deleted any posts that mentioned the shooter was a Muslim (this was before it was confirmed). The donald was the one of the only subreddits that didn't censor those posts so a lot of posts on the donald were making it to the front page. It also got way more popular. Reddit changed their site algorithm to not have one subreddit dominate the front page. Since then, mods on the donald subreddit feel they've been targeted by the site because there was a time when Bernie Sanders had posts that dominated the front page and nothing changed. Also there are posts with far less comments, likes, and are oldee that remain (such as the anti trump posts) meanwhile a much larger post continues to drop (trump's ama). Reddit has been censorong a lot of news lately. It's not the site it use to be.
Gotcha, thanks for the explanation. I admittedly don't go on reddit often. I'm friends with the founders through the Silicon Valley/SF startup world, but reddit itself has never really interested me.
I have no doubt Reddit manipulates/censors favorable Trump content I also have no doubt much of that subreddit's content is driven by Russian fake accounts/bots trying to help Trump

I asked Trump why he won't release his tax returns if he's rich and doesn't have ties to the Russians. Reddit deleted it within 15 minutes.
— Olivia Nuzzi (@Olivianuzzi) July 27, 2016
