Not being needed because team has good, healthy options is not the same as dead weight. I don't consider guys that are tradeable to be dead weight even if the Astros don't need them due to extreme good health.

He was above average just last season in advanced and non-advanced stats.

As bad as Teo was last year, I doubt we see him this year with the exception of a September callup as a "reward". I would think they want him to continue to have as much success in the minors as possible this year.

He also isn't on the 40 man so would take another 40 man move in addition to the two we are gonna see soon anyway.

I do think Jake would have some trade value though, but with Springer, Gomez and Rasmus all legitimate CFs I don't think we would have to have another defensive center field guy to make moving Jake work

Most reports I've seen on Hernandez have been pretty similar in regards to his defense. Good arm, good range, not the best instincts.

At this point Marisnick is living on borrowed time with the club. He's actually been productive over the last week or so, but he has been a complete zero since his hot month to start last year. I, like many here, want to give him chances because he's so good in so many facets. But when you are that terrible at the games most important aspect, it more than negates everything else.

The Astros have kept him because of his potential, not out of need. We have 3 center fielders, none of whom are defensive liabilities.

I expect the Astros are the high team on him. I would not be surprised if Astros start trying him in LF to see if he's good enough to make the team as a LHB off the bench next season.

Only 1 40-man move is necessary for Bregman. They had already DFA'd Matt Duffy to make room for Gurriel. Still plenty of dead weight to remove to make room for Hernandez should they decide they want to see him this year.

I do agree that he's a Sept call-up if anything. As long as Gomez, Rasmus, and Marisnick are around, there simply isn't room for him right now.

What about Preston Tucker? I'd rather have him on the team as our bat off the bench than Moran

The way Marisnick fields and runs the base paths, he's like the perfect 4th outfielder.

I don't think he has to worry about job security for the near future, because his job does not ask him to take on a tremendous burden in terms of propping up the offense. He'll be a fantastic guy on the team for pinch running and late game defense, which he can continue doing until he becomes too expensive to do it. But that won't happen for a few years yet.

Not everyone pans out. Rather Astros have two good options as LHB off the bench than zero. That said, Moran can likely play 3B, 1B, and LF which helps if Moran can make it close. On the flip side, Moran has to hit for slightly more power or for more average.

    Yes they have.

Going into this season the raw talent was known, but there were real questions about whether they would even translate into success on the field.

As this season has progressed, and they have steadily moved up the farm system, they have started have on the field success.

Angel Heredia, Jose Hernandez, Albert Abreu, Rogelio Armenteros, Franklin Perez, Hector Perez, Framber Valdez and even some even lower.

We have an open spot in the bullpen....Sipps. I admittedly haven't followed contract negotiations so I would assume he can't be sent down and they'd have to DFA him.

Wasn't Fields pretty solid in his appearances last year with the Astros? What happened to him?

He says his fastball ranges from 93-98. Interview from "What the Heck, Bobby?"

Yea I don't disagree, but if we move any of those guys it would likely be in a deal for guys coming back who would be on the 25 man much less 40

I'm just excited that Teo looks the part of a prospect again

Couldn't agree more. What I was originally trying to say was that the Astros have made some good finds among Latin American pitchers who signed when they were 18/19 or older. My bad if that point wasn't apparent.

Fields was sometimes solid. At times he looks like a dominant relief pitcher. At other times hitters are teeing off on him. He drives me crazy.

Sipp isn't an open spot. Team probably wouldn't consider DFA'ing him until next season.

Duarte to Lancaster. Telling y'all, he is the most underrated prospect in the system.

Pallilo is interviewing Bregman on 790 right now. Says he'll play anywhere just wants to help the team win.

Surprised but honestly glad they are sending Reed down to get some consistent ABs. He's going to be so much better when he is back here in September and there isn't a real need for him on the 25 man at this point.
