Finaly someone showed some cojones and it was Cruz You just do you man. He has to position himself for the 2020 campaign
Cajones? Cruz is as self-centered as ever, but it is very entertaining. The principled stand is the Kasich/Bush stand in this train wreck. EDIT: even if it was for his 2020 run, I do give him props for facing a *nasty* belligerent crowd like that. It isn't easy. I know... I teach physics.

There's no incentive for anyone to endorse Trump, he's unlikely to even top 40% of the vote. He'll be the guy handing the election to Hillary Clinton, he'll be the guy handing the Senate and House to the Democrats, he'll be the guy handing the SCOTUS to the left for 20 years or more. He's pretty much the worst thing that ever happened to conservatives in the US or for civil liberties. Fully supporting a loser like Trump can only take away from anyone who bends the knee.
Hate to admit it, but the Repubs look like they are getting a bit better at this Convention Biz as it goes on. They are making as good attempt as possible to appeal to anyone besides angry white guys. Still nutty like complaining about public infrastructure and pretending that they aren't the folks who block any votes to do anything about it because it might involve tax dollars to their masters.
If you mean, is Bernie Sanders withhold an endorsement for Clinton? Absolutely not. I know you conservatives like to pretend that Clinton is as bad as Trump, and maybe she won't get the support from Sanders supporters, but there's just no comparison. Every single one of those speakers next week is going to mention Hillary Clinton specifically by name. All of them have already said numerous positive things about her, and even her and Sanders' disagreements were, for the most part, civil. Which is how it should be. They should be ALL mentioning Trump by name- and they should all be there- McCain, Romney, the Bushes, Kasich, etc. I mean, RocketsLegend, do you not see how toxic your candidate is? Are you really going to say that it's not Trump, that Cruz, Kasich, Romney, McCain, George W. Bush, etc. are all stupid and in the wrong? No, he's that bad. It's a shame- I mean, you want to at least have a level playing field. At this rate, he is going to lose historically- we're talking possible McGovern-Mondale proportions.
Completely agree. He really deserved to be the one running against Clinton. Might have even won, who knows? We'll never know until 2020.
Oh c'mon. I had as much fun as anyone with that performance, but do you guys honestly think that Ted's principles extend beyond what's best for Ted? His speech was awesome, and totally self-serving.
He's a man of principles... if those principles happen to be looking out for #1. Cruz is smart. He knows Trump is going to get slaughtered worse than Mondale. He's positioning himself to be the face of the new Republican party that emerges from this catastrophe. Eyes on 2020.
It's not like they had all that many people to choose from. The majority of the Republican party doesn't support Trump. Sure they got Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan to hand over their balls, but they couldn't get many others to do the same.
No, I do believe that Cruz is charismatic enough and well-spoken and smart enough to certainly hold his own against Clinton. I'm not saying I agree with him or would vote for him, but he certainly doesn't inspire the hatred Trump does. And when they have the debates, and Trump is under true intense scrutiny, when he starts making faces and going into his immature act while Clinton speaks (b/c you know that's going to happen), he is going to embarrass his entire party. Cruz may be wrong, but he's not an embarrassment.
I am 100% honest when I say I respect Romney, McCain, Bush, Reagan, Dole- all the way back. I do not have to agree with all of their positions- but I do respect them and really wouldn't have been that concerned, last time, if Romney won. I mean, do I have to keep stating it's Trump? Not really.
I still think he's slimey but who knows if this will kill his career outside of Texas? He's risking a lot when he could have taken the easy road out. I mean that gotta count for something.
