Remember that one season with Sura, Jon Barry, MerGady, and Co.? That was a really fun season, although we flaked out in the 1st round. Was that the 22-winning streak season? It was that season where everyone was doing this: Spoiler I've hoped that the Rockets recapture that kind of teamwork and camaraderie.
No it was not the 22 streak season...however we did start something like 6-11, then JVG unleashed TMAC and we finished the season very strong. that was a great team. hate to say that refs blew it for us, but we were so very close to beating that Mavs team.
At least we didn't simply sit and do nothing. Pringles and Co. represent change at least. With change is possibility to be good. We were not last year. Its delusional to think we are title contenders. Maybe playoff contenders is realistic as long as your not thinking beyond the first round. I was very cynical upon the Pringles hire. Still am. But I have to move on.
I guess I'll settle for a team that gives consistent effort every game. I think that was the thing I couldn't stand about last seasons team. I know we're not real contenders, but I think we can earn a little respect back across the league if we play hard every night.
I see the west like this 1. GS 2-3. SA & Memphis 4 - .Everybody else. So our ceiling is the 4th seed.
I think that the ceiling for this season is... "Sneaky Good" Enough to be a head ache in the first round, but that's about it.
I agree they'll be good. But good doesnt win titles, hasnt won us FA, and good teams rarely win the lottery. They just keep being good. We need this team to be great.
They were injured last year - if healthy with the addition of Parsons they should be a very good team.
They're basically replacing the Matt Barnes/Jeff Green platoon with Parsons, meanwhile Allen and ZBo are both going to be 35 next year and Gasol has a screw in his foot after suffering the same injury as Yao. I think you're being a little overly bullish.
Right now the West looks like this to me: 1) GSW 2) SAS 3) LAC Then we have a bunch of teams that will be jockeying for position: 4-9. - Portland - Utah - Memphis - Houston - OKC - Dallas - Minn - heads the next tier but could jump up to the next grouping. - Den / Sac / NOP / Phx / LAL
A lot of that may be true but let's not crown GSW the Champions just yet. This will be their first season together (chemistry) and there will only be 1 ball to go around..... Ego's will be tested & checked!!
I think we could be a 4th-6th seed. Yes we are not a contender, but newsflash boys NOBODY is! If the Dubs are as good as everyone expects them to be then there are fewer than 1 or 2 teams in the entire league that could perhaps knock them out of the title pursuit. The main goal of being "good" this season besides the obvious reason of just being good, is to wash away the stink of last season's performance and clean our organization's image. I know some people hate this but its the truth, cleaning our image, and having a working system with an MVP candidate and a good overall team makes us attractive to top free agents again, and next year's free agent pool will present more opportunities than this year's to further improve the team.
BTW - I don't think GS is any better with Durant than they were last year - those shots will go to him that will take away from Curry and Thompson - so in the end, he is probably not making the team better, won't be worse, but won't be better either. DD
