But that doesn't require a rationale from those the OP can't understand. That I think is the point of the thread. I think a lot of it is just a sort of fake team spirit like for pro sports teams we have no real part of either.
Obamacare killed the healthcare field. Health insurance increased premiums on clients and the healthcare providers are not making that much anymore.
I like him as a person. A tad arrogant at times, but whatever, everyone has character flaws. I'm not a big fan of the job he's done as President (although some good things have occurred under his watch). Not enough balls for my liking. Actual leadership ability is not that good. Disapproved of some of his policy decisions on the economy and foreign policy. He and his administration care too much about their image. Still though, I don't regret voting for him in 2008...the alternative would've been worse. And some of Obama's detractors are being unfair in their attempt to pin the blame on him for everything bad over the past 8 years...makes me suspicious of their real reasons for disliking him. BTW, I also liked (and still like) GWB as a human being. Seems like a cool guy to shoot the breeze with. However, I did not like his performance as President, mainly due to incompetence (plus Cheney is evil). W was in over his head. I have a much bigger problem with Congress, and the corrupt system as a whole.
I certainly am, don't hate me because I am smarter than you, it is a burden. Fortunately it is not something you will ever have to worry about or be burdened with.... Anyone ever notice all the women that are hyper supportive of Hillary? Same reason, they are JONESING to get the first woman in there. DD
To be fair and data-driven, the "healthcare field" in America was on an unsustainable trajectory. It was very ill, in terms of mushrooming costs to the federal government and it's % of federal spending. Now, you can say we replaced one type of ailment for the system with a new and perhaps worse ailment, but it's not like the system went from pristine, happy and healthy and the ACA "killed" it.
No but healthcare reform has been on the list of necessary changes for the last 5 elections if not more. Obamacare didn't change that one bit. We still need massive and arguably more massive healthcare reform than we did before Obamacare.
I have been working in the healthcare field for the last 8 years and reimbursements to the clinic has been decreasing compared to even 3-4 years ago. It is more of a cause and effect since everyone has to have health insurance now and the insurance company takes advantage of the situation and raise the premiums. United healthcare use to reimburse pretty well and now its kinda crappy in the state of Texas. I know reimbursements are different in every state. The medical providers at the clinic would now have to see more patients everyday to balance it out. I know a local orthopedic surgeon that tells me reimbursements has been horrible for him and he makes more money just performing designated doctors for the state than surgery. Everyone has there own opinion but that is what I have encountered at work.
Curious... what part of healthcare did Obamacare kill? Health care insurance? Health care provider? Pharmaceuticals? Do you have any revenue and/or profit stats that show the deaths of these industries?
All those industries are thriving... it's the patients and the doctors and nurses that are being hurt by it.
Thanks! Forgive me if I'm a little shocked by your intelligent reply. I'm not used to seeing them down here. While we are under excellent state health insurance via my significant other, I know a couple of people who are using Obamacare. They couldn't afford insurance before and are glad to have it, but have also bitterly complained about the bureaucracy involved in getting and keeping coverage. One was a woman who has gotten divorced and was told by Obamacare that she had to reapply and go through all the paperwork again, which irritated the heck out of her and made no sense to me. Anyway, thanks again for the reply and I obviously need to delve a little further into what most agree is a very flawed way of getting health insurance coverage to millions of Americans that didn't have it before. It wasn't what most of us wanted to see passed, but appeared to be the best Obama thought he could get through Congress.
National healthcare is the answer, one that is automatically signed up for when you get a SS#, like every other civilized country in the world has. Cut military spending by 50% and we can get free education in there too. DD
OK, so all the health care industries are thriving despite Obamacare. So how are you measuring how doctors are being hurt? Income? Seems that the latest Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2016 suggests that all fields except allergy and pulmonary medicine shows increases in physician compensation. 63% of physicians report no change in compensation due to Obamacare, and 11% report their income increased. Are they seeing fewer patients? 49% of primary care physicians have seen an influx of new patients due to Obamacare. 84% of employed and 77% of self-employed physicians say they are continuing to take new and current Medicare and Medicaid patients. http://www.medscape.com/features/slideshow/compensation/2016/public/overview#page=24 So, hard to see where physicians have been hurt by Obamacare
I looked at physicians in a previous response, so lets now look at nurses. To be sure, I think nurses are way underpaid and underappreciated. That said, how is Obamacare hurting nurses? Stats show nursing employment is growing 19% between 2012 and 2022. And after a dip between 2012 and 2013, nursing salaries are on the rise: http://www.nursingworld.org/MainMenuCategories/ThePracticeofProfessionalNursing/workforce/Fast-Facts-2014-Nursing-Workforce.pdf So like physicians, I am not sure I see where Obamacare is hurting nurses.
To be fair, the single biggest component to the deficit going to $1.5 trillion was the Great Recession, which happened on Bush's watch, not Obama's. You simply can't blame the jump in the deficit to $1.5 trillion to Obama without lying through your teeth.
That's simply not true, the reason the deficit went to 1.5 trillion is because Democrats took over the House and Senate and went on an irresponsible spending spree not seen since WW2. They continued the spending spree until the Republicans took the House and senate and forced relative fiscal responsibility on Obama.....that he complained about. I can absolutely blame the ridiculous spending on Obama, it's his party's politics that led to it. and he continued it while in office and fought against measures to cut back on spending to the point of the house and senate having to threaten to shut down the government multiple times.
