Yeah, I think this guy was an anarchist who was looking for an excuse to be violent.

I didn't realize this guy was a vet too.....maybe there could be some kind of link to the Dallas shooting.

The issue is that there a lot of individuals and communities who have reasons to not feel this way, and who are starting to cease feeling this way.

Rule of law is something that works and defends many people in this country, but, as poverty increases, as the cops militarize, and as more and more people end up on the wrong side of the justice system (or have their friends and families who end up there) -- then the percentage of people who the rule of law is working for decreases, and more and more people come to see it as inimical to themselves.

And I'm not just talking about race here. Race is definitely a factor, but poverty and debt are huge factors that cross racial lines and are driving people's loss of faith in cops and the rule of law.

No, actually those points were straight from Obama's press conference. Go to youtube and listen to it, as it sounds like you missed the press conference.

Politics is ugly, and both sides rely on deception to convince their less sophisticated followers that their side is virtuous and the other side is evil. Obama is no different, in fact he does it far more than most. They say that it's never good to meet your heroes, because you won't like what you see. Your pristine image of them will be ruined. All I'm doing is helping you to meet your hero in Obama. You don't like what you see, and so you emotionally respond to facts with nothing more than one line of false accusation. I'm sorry you do not like the truth, but it doesn't make it any less true. Politics is ugly, all I'm trying to do is explain it to you.

there is no justification for violence against law enforcement. None. These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one. They right no wrongs. They advance no causes.

If they were straight out of his press conference, than quote them because Obama in the ceremony in Dallas explicitly called the act an "act of RACIAL HATRED". Those are direct explicit quotes and the quotes are IN CONTEXT. So now you do the same. The only reason I ask for quotes is so we can actually have a rational discussion based on objective evidence rather than your vague platitudes and conjecture.

My point is not to justify anything. My point is that this mindset is not ex nihlo, and to write it off to derangement and evil will mean that the conditions driving people to turn against the rule of law and to cops will continue unabated.

I'm not asking you or anyone else here to praise the killing of cops. I just think it is highly relevant to your comment that "Attacks on police are an attack on all of us" that this is a feeling that is increasingly not shared in this country.

I'm not trying to get people to not condemn the action, I'm trying to help everyone understand it so that things can change.

Well, now you admit you didn't watch the press conference, then falsely accuse me of offering up platitudes and conjecture, when in fact I offered up real time analysis of the actual press conference. So you attempted to rebut my very salient and true points from a position of total ignorance to what actually was said at the press conference that you didn't watch. Again, what's really happening here is that you don't like what you hear. I laid it all out perfectly, explaining every deception and political maneuver that was attempted and exposed it for all to see. Again, never meet your heroes.

Obama has been the most racially divisive President in our nation's history. On security matters, he is a failed President. Expect to hear more about this in the coming days.

Idiots will always take any opportunity to get a platform. I remember reading about an ancient society (either Greece or Rome) that would actually officially wipe out any record of the existence of violent attention seekers.

I think we need to start doing this with these kinds of people. They are doing it for attention, so why reward them?

    So still no quote?

And I DID watch the press conference and if you did also you would understand that his statement questioning his mental health was not a statement about his motive. He was questioning whether his mental health also played a factor. And if you believe that he only questions the mental health of mass shooters that lean towards his ideologies, then let's clear that matter up now because he explicitly stated that Dylan Roof had mental health issues also. So, again I don't see the 'divisive' part in his statement. He even explicitly stated in the ceremony in Dallas that the shooting was motivated by 'racial hatred'.

Just so you know, just because someone is a explicit racist who hates all cops, an added element of mental illness is needed to take those ideas into action and kill cops and pretty much commit suicide by cop. Holding horrible sentiments isn't all that it takes to do such a horrific act. Questioning his mental health is EXTREMELY VALID.

There are plenty explicit racists like Dylan Roof (jcee15 for example) but they aren't going to go in a black church and randomly murder people because that part does require some mental sickness mainly because that sort of act also shows a disregard for one's own well-being which is one of the more obvious signs of mental illness.

Back to this comment, the shooter in Baton Rouge was a trained Marine that reportedly had an "assault rifle" and he only managed to kill 3 people with it before being stopped. An "assault rifle" isn't a tank.....it's not even a large truck.

Amazing how the only black President ever is the most racially divisive President ever to the whites. This is what happens when white privilege is threatened.

On Sunday, police received a call of a "suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle," a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN.

When police arrived, the shooting began.

LOL so you blame the NRA for someone out to hurt people? Do you blame the ACLU for Westboro Baptist?

Right wingers getting nervous about their Constitutional rights.

Cleveland police union asks for suspension of 'open carry' in wake of Baton Rouge, ahead of RNC

    http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/17/politics/cleveland-police-baton-rouge-security-open-carry/index.html

"We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something -- I don't care if it's constitutional or not at this point," Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, told CNN. "They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely outlaw open-carry in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over."

State law in Ohio allows for licensed firearm owners to wear their weapons in public. With the exception of a small "secure zone" inside and around the Quicken Loans Arena, residents, delegates and protesters are legally permitted to walk around the city -- including within its 1.7 square mile regulated "event zone" -- with any firearm not explicitly banned by the state.
