At age 28, this is his last chance to show if he can be a good starting PG in the NBA. Let's see, he can always fall back to be a solid 6th man coming off the bench as a combo guard. We'll see Lin in the NBA for another 4 to 5 more seasons. Tinsatan can be useful in his mind for another 4 to 5 nba seasons here in clutch.
As we've seen from all the contracts signed in this FA period, Lin's contract was very reasonable and far below what others have been signing for. So I think this was less about "taking the money" and more about getting the opportunity to be a starting PG for a coach that he knows and trusts. Still to be seen if the Nets are truly "terrible"...they were a 38 win team last season, but remember that the Hornets were a 33 win team the season before Lin joined; Lin joining the Nets is also more about Lin believing in his own ability to help a team get better. As far as coming off the bench vs. starting...I'm sure you've seen the posts, but Lin has something like a 25-11 record as a starter when Melo/Harden/Kobe/Kemba have been out...and he's something like a 20/5 player in those games. Stats can be misleading or inconsequential of course, but I believe the next two seasons will be a good opportunity for Lin.
Do the Celtics own the right to swap picks this year as well? If so its mind boggling how much ainge robbed them.
Uh...the Nets went 21-61 last season according to NBA.com. I think you're thinking of two seasons ago, when they still had Garnett, Iso Joe, and Deron Williams...
Yup, you are correct. My mistake. Hopefully with new coach and new players, they will be in position to get to 41 wins.
People here still act like Lin is gonna average 14/6 with or without Harden. Like he is the same player when he is handling the rock most of the time. So, may I say he is quite good off the ball by this logic?
Without major injuries, Lin could easily average more than 17 / 6.5:. ------------------------------------------------------ Projected stats per game for JLin in 2016-17: 19.2pts 4.0trb 6.9ast 3.7tov 1.4stl 0.4blk 2.8pf 33.5 mins 42.3% FG 35.1% 3P 81.0% FT 6.8 FTA Linsanity in 2011-12 (26 gms): 18.5pts 3.7trb 7.7ast 4.5tov 2.0stl 0.3blk 2.5pf 34.1 mins 44.9% FG 32.4% 3P 79.3% FT 6.3 FTA
There is no one on the nets and he is going to have ball all the. It isn't hard to see him scoring 20ppg. Maybe the modern day Ricky Davis.
A good season for Lin will be if he's the starting PG and the Nets can win 40 and be in contention of a playoff spot all season. 17 pts. 4rb. 7asst 3.5 TO and 1.5st.
I was just wondering if there was some site or something that used historical data and some formulas to predict those stats... or if he just pulled them out if his ass. If the latter, I have to lol at the decimals. Why .3? Did that round up from .25 or .27? Etc
I hope he does well. I know the guy is a really good dude. He's just got a whole lot of unrealistic expectations heaped upon him. Look at the stuff here. Even if you eliminate all the trolling people genuinely want to see him fail. That's ****ed up.
I'd much rather see him play a Crawford type role. It's how he flourishes. We'll revisit this stuff in like 100 pages when people say he sucks, others will defend him for the reasons i mentioned and it's rinse and repeat because neither is accurate. You have to take the good with the bad. I was trying to find a good comp and I'm going to use Vinnie Johnson
