Not even close to Hakeem. Don't confuse having a GOAT career with being a GOAT player. Duncan is nowhere near the player Hakeem was
I actually would love if you could break down their careers as basketball players and show how Duncan is not close to Hakeem. If you can't, then there's no reason to make such an absurd statement.
http://www.landofbasketball.com/player_comparison/tim_duncan_vs_hakeem_olajuwon.htm It's very close and you could make arguments for both, don't let your Rockets fandom cloud your mind.
Look at the numbers, its not very hard. Hakeem was a FAR better player than Tim Duncan was. Tim Duncan had the luxury of playing with a organization (and coach) that allowed him to still be successful while taking a backseat the 2nd half of his career. Could we have allowed Hakeem to sit out games of the regular season? Did we have the luxury of "resting" Hakeem during the regular season? No we sure the hell didn't. Hakeem was the ONLY star of the Rockets during his era. He was CLEARLY the best player on EVERY Rockets team he played on, and dominated pretty much EVERY match up during his prime years. Please stop, there is absolutely no questioning who the better player was
I'm not ashamed to say that I really wanted to see Yao Tmac face the Spurs in the playoffs. We matched up fairly well against them the same way that we matched up absolutely terribly with the Jazz. Too bad we never at least got to try it out.
Here are all of their head to head matchups. Barkley on average scored more at a better FG%, shot more FTs at a higher FT%, rebounded more, and did it in fewer minutes played. Duncan had more assists and blocked shots, and the Spurs won six of the eight games. Timmy's best game against the Barkley Rockets was when Charles played 29 minutes coming off the bench and Duncan played 41 minutes.
