Put forth some real effort. The series of posts (made after claiming you have no time) are the laziest I have ever seen. All question, no effort or thought. Pathetic.
I was attacking your posts and discussion effort. How many posts have you made since you had no time to check a few pages earlier in the thread for information you asked for? 15? "No time"
How I prioritize my time is not really your business. Nor do I need to explain what I am doing You're being ridiculous. Good night. Bobby didn't have time to sift through his posts to find whatever it was, and it's wasn't worth my time to do it either. I let it go and focused on the point I was trying to make. I didn't realize you needed to jump in and make an issue out of a mundane point.
I expect 20 more posts. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oqeSUAlI5uI?rel=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's been a while since anyone has discussed this. What gives? But the cop did not "suspect" there was a gun - he identified the gun and clearly knew it was there.
The Dallas incident overtook this. Protest happen yesterday. Few hundred arrested I believe, without much of any incident. And there was one picture The Atlantic show that is 'hard to forget': Article on the protest and photo here: http://www.theatlantic.com/notes/20...captures-race-and-policing-in-america/490664/ I happen to be in Baton Rouge yesterday. Eerily quiet for a Saturday. Rumors of "attack" on cop went a bit wide and people stayed home. People were seriously concern and think there is a group of people that will continue the attacks.
Depends on the context obviously. If the person is violently resisting arrest at the time, they should tell him not to move and what the consequences of disobedience will be. If Joe Citizen is walking from his car into his home, they shouldn't do anything.
I have to step back and admire what is going on here among some posters. Are y'all really suggesting that there was no way Sterling could have: Reached into his pocket and fired the gun from within his pocket? Reached into his pocket, removed the gun from his pocket, and then fire the gun? Grab the gun from outside his pocket and fire the gun? I am rather astonished.
I don't want to encourage or engage you but I don't think that straw man will hunt for what they are saying. Significant point was that the guys posture/pin was not conducive to his normal outmanned gunkata routine. But I'm sure the popo see lots of double jointed gunkata from prone perps so you can never be too sure.
I have lived in Baton Rouge for 3-4 months and I have some thoughts... 1. I have young (16-18 year old) black females who are calling out of work to go protest. Personally, I could care less if they want to get involved but their approach has been something like this.... "Hey... I can't come in an hour because I am going to go protest. And if you don't like it, you will hear from my lawyer." This was her lead. This particular girl is a great kid. Smart and ambitious. I see her take that angle, almost trying to create a battle against "the man" and I wonder what this little child is trying to accomplish and why that tact is taken? People are too willing to escalate. That goes for everyone and every race. I blame the internet. 2. A Co-worker today who has lived in Baton Rouge all of his life definitely advised me to stay out of certain areas of town. I guess he figured since I was fairly new to the city and all. So I guess even the locals are noticing all of this and taking note. Truth be told I was in Vegas Monday to Friday of last week so I was out of pocket. 3. The incident in Minneapolis seems far crazier to me and an actual situation where the cop should be legally punished. I don't see why this man in Baton Rouge wouldn't just surrender the gun. I am in favor of law enforcement killing anyone that will not surrender their weapon when engaged with an officer. Personally, I like this new fangled robot-bomb idea pioneered by black officers. Crazy white person with a gun won't give it up... Cap his ass also. If I am missing some details about the local (for me) incident let me know but I hate the fact that they are getting lumped together when they seem different. The Minneapolis incident seems suspect for sure.
Protesting (peacefully! ...not the Dallas kind) is fine, but leaving work to do it? LMAO what an entitled pos
For 2- I know the area very well. I have two business here and was a former resident. One of my business partner have direct contact to a friend that worked for the baton rouge PD. Cops have been working 12hr shift since Dallas to prepare for 'riot'. This was why they were in full riot gears for a protest. The cop provided internal memo to my busn partner. He showed to me. I briefly looked at it and decided not to read but was verbally told that it was a warning to be prepare for anything and that there were 'internet' posts on killing cops. I'm sure these thing travel and that's why it was pretty empty everywhere. Our business has probably 10% of its usual traffic and we are no where close to where the protest was. Some folks told us they went practice shooting to be prepare. Some others were concerned about their loved ones that went... fishing in the gulf! Of course all anecdotal, but just to give you an idea of some people mind and reactions in the area.
I haven't kept up with this entire thread, but it's a little more than that. I will say the cops did a poor job of not escalating the situation based on what has been shown and reported. The takedown the one cop did was completely stupid and he's lucky he didn't knock himself out. That said the cops showed up to a scene where they thought they were going to encounter a guy waving a gun. The guy was completely uncooperative and he was escalating the situation himself. Yes being uncooperative shouldn't be a reason to get shot but police training is not as good as people think. There is no uniform and consistent grappling training or de-escalation training. Smaller cities usually have less training resources. I do the Brazilian jiu-jitsu/wrestling classes 4-5 times a week now and I've got a pretty decent grasp on how to control someone. Things change quickly when that person has 30, 40, 50, 100 lbs on you or if the guy is decently in shape or athletic...anyhow. I'd love to believe I could completely control a guy as big as the one in the shooting, but I know it's not a 100% chance. Yes it's really ****ty this guy got shot but if he had simply obeyed the cops commands he would be alive. No idea what his intentions truly were but the cop told him what to do and he wouldn't stop. He ended up having a gun in the pocket the cops thought that he was reaching for. My HPD friend who explained this helped me to understand it. He is a man of darker tone as well . From my perspective the shooting was justifiable but at the same time completely avoidable from my iPhone keyboard clutchfans perspective. And I hope I wasn't too off base with what you were getting at.
I just saw that the president called the family of Alton Sterling today....wow that really worked out for them better than any other possible scenario. I mean, if Sterling doesn't fight with cops he's doing 10-20 years hard labor for illegally carrying that handgun but since he fought with cops and wound up dead the family embarrassment managed to get the president to call solely because he was black. I mean, he was just a felon and a sex offender beforehand but since he's black and he got killed while fighting with cops his family gets a call from the president. Something like that could make his kids look at him in a positive light instead of living their lives embarrassed that they are even related to him.
If everyone have a concealed gun in their pocket, the jobs for cops would be so much easier, just shoot everyone when anything happens. That would make America so much safer.
