Interesting database. If you filter on "unarmed" and "shot" the number comes to 52 people total in a country with 333,000,000 people and probably millions of police interactions per day. If you actually drill into the details, most of the 52 have the perpetrator trying to attack the police or others with cars or something like that. In addition there were also a few included where it was a murder by a police officer as a crime while off duty. Seems as though if this database is even a little accurate, it's very, very rare for an unarmed person to get killed by the police by shooting.
"If only people on the other side had guns to shoot back" - That's the standard line isn't it after one of these events?
Well I'm glad you think that but we're talking about a group that glorifies cop killers like Assata Shakur and at BLM events they have former Black Panthers teaching the principles that their racist organization was founded on....I mean it's pretty hard to deny.
I feel sorry for you, like the way you live your life as a victim feeling sorry for yourself. Waking up every morning must be rough.
the parking garage they keep zooming into on periscope is the wrong one. it's the one behind the neon green building that is obstructed. i can tell based on the earlier video with the gunman behind the white columns.
You mean that some of it's founders come from black panthers? I don't agree with some of their tactics and their approach, but I think calling BLM a terrorist organization going way too far. I mean to me it's obvious. What is the purpose of planning and conducting a sophisticated attack on 11 cops if you aren't trying to make a statement? But you're right, nothing is known until more facts surface.
yup it looks like it. but DPD did say their not sure they got everyone which is scary as close as this dude is to the area.
Probably so. I just think the word terrorism gets thrown around way too much these days. What we do gives foreign governments the cover to use the same language whenever they want.
Well I didn't call it a terrorist organization, by saying "BLM type terrorist" I was talking about someone or a group of people who were influenced by their rhetoric who went out and committed a terrorist act. There are those at the core of BLM that would encourage acts like that but I don't think they would have anything to do with it directly. It's sort of like how radical Muslim clerics might not have anything to do with ISIS or any other terrorist organization directly but they might preach the type of hate filled rhetoric that encourages others to radicalize and commit acts of violence. By holding up racists and cop killers as role models, that's exactly what the core of BLM is doing.
I hear you - and foreign gov't tend to label any opposition as "terrorists". But this is not that kind of situation. I agree people here do it when they label BLM a terrorist organization. Basically trying to smear an organization they don't like. But this is very different. Gunman trying to maximize carnage of a group in a public way that would obviously get national attention and create fear. Well, it's all semantics at the end of the day.
looks like he's at the downtown westin based on his view. i've stayed there before so it looks familiar. -edit- scratch that, he's not behind bank of america he's behind the park. probably an apartment building.
