Deckard, my intention was to ADD to your argument, not to say your were wrong. I absolutely agree with you. I was just saying that the people in this thread claiming that Ariza sucks are basing that opinion on a single year in which he sucked no worse than everyone else. He's a solid starter on a great contract. Dumping him would be idiotic, unless you bring back something better in return. <BR>
Why would we trade for Love when we just signed the poor man's Kevin Love to a big contract? We can't have every single player camping out on the perimeter.
Sorry! DD irritates me sometimes. Didn't intend to take it out on you due to a misunderstanding. I'm on vacation and probably would be better off not posting until I get back. It's 1am here and I can't sleep. -
Yeah, you are on a River Cruise - go get in the hot tub, and forget about all of this nonsense. It is ok if your standards are different than mine, now enjoy the scenery! He has always sucked, just sucked less when less is asked of him, remember the disaster he was when Morey signed him the first time? Yeah, me too - I don't like Ariza, if you can't dribble a ball, or make an accurate pass - you are not going to be a player I enjoy watching all that much. But that is just me.....my preferences, folks are free to have their own opinions.... DD
Ariza is a super role player with a ring. Was key to the Rockets getting to the WCF. Someone like parsons is a first round virgin
I like Ariza but at this point sacrifices have to be made. If we can somehow swing for Love then we take it and don't look back. We need to move past the last two seasons emotionally. New coach and new system whether we like it or not. The front office has definitely moved on. Besides Harden everyone is an asset. Even guys like DMO, Ariza , Beverly, become expendable when we're looking to improve and make a solid roster. If the cavs want Ariza, then they will have to make sacrifices too and I trust Morey to not trade an asset for garbage or nothing.
There's perception, and then there's reality. Perception: Ariza is a good 3 and D player Reality: Ariza actually had a negative DRPM (-0.65) and shot a horrid 14.3% from 3 this past playoffs.
Cavs were interested in Ariza previously so this is no surprise. LeBron likes Beverley and they played together a little in Miami. I believe LeBron said it was a shame they let him go. You package those 2 with Capela (easily our best trade asset) and that's pretty much what you'd need to get Love. I don't see why the Cavs would make a significant deal like that though just after winning a title.
You actually can and that fits Harden's game perfectly. He'll be able to finish easier in the paint now that Dwight and his man aren't down low, since the other team's C has to guard a shooter now.
Small sample size. The Rockets got eliminated in 5 Lets not act like Ariza is a bad shooter. Just a little slump that came at the wrong time of the season.
Everybody was awful last year. Ariza had strong numbers the year before in those same categories you're citing. He's more than deserving of a mulligan, if you ask me.
Is there any 3-way trade possible where the Cavs would get Ariza, Love goes to Chicago and we get Jimmy Butler and Calderon...and somehow unload Brewer in the process?
