This guy has spent more than 5 years in prison, he knows the routine. Maybe you wouldn't understand what they were looking to do, but I guarantee you anyone that has spent time in prison like this guy has would know.
Once they tackle him and he slides off the car, rolling him to his back is the only direction they can go. Rolling him onto his belly was blocked by the bumper of the car. So they roll him on his back and one of the cops quickly gets his left arm pinned under his knee. It looks like they're trying to get control of the right arm. I don't see what you mean about him trying to raise his arm and them lowering it.
I dont think the officer who visibly drew his gun is the one who shot him. Was that the assumption being made? His gun doesn't kickback at all in the second video...not a gun expert by any means, but shouldn't there be some movement or resistance by the cop trying to steady it? Looks like the other guy shot him, then rolled over on him as they scuffled....the cop showing his back basically backs off...then the camera pans away and you hear more shots as they try to get him on the ground. My guess is he reached for the cop's gun for some reason and that triggered the shots. That second video shows it wasn't a point blank shot at man who's just laying there. there are still questions as to what led up to all that....probably could have handled it better, but not cold blooded murder, imo.
Is that tackle standard procedure for the BRPD? Especially when the call they received was about someone with a weapon.
I would imagine it would be after you use your taser on someone resisting arrest that is supposed to be armed and the person still doesn't go down.
Well, from the second video it's pretty clear the gun never left his pocket. From the new video the officer with the no cap, was patting him down and felt the gun, and yelled out he's got a gun. Freaked out and shot him twice, rolled over the body. The officer with the cap then followed up with 3 shots, and then removes the gun out of the pocket.
Did you see the same video that I saw? The guy was obviously fighting and struggling. How can you not see/mention that?
Can't say he just freaked out...not visible enough. Sterling could have reached for his gun or the cop's...or not. Also, i think most assume the cop with the visible gun in the 1st video shot him and that took him out for the most part and then more shots followed...but sterling got up after the first shot and then they shot him for an unknown reason.
If you watch the other video which is a lot clearer you can see him lift his right hand and you see the palm facing the cop. He is showing his palms to the cop - that's an act of clear submission. The cop then grabs his hand and moves it down then says he is reaching for his gun.
Don't get so emoitonal and carried away... The investigation 'll reveal how the suspect was a terrible person..who might carried a screw driver in his lunch bags 2 decades ago.., I wonder if If BRPD would auction this gun
You can see at the six second mark of the enhanced video that he brings his right hand up and then the cop grabs it and pulls it down. And then 3 seconds later he is shot. They knew there was a gun in his pocket. Why would the cop grab his hand and bring it towards his pocket? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCo_IvK7f6o
I can't really make that out..just seems like a lot of hand movement.. It's possible that sterling was too close to the car to show his right hand..he's almost under it on that side, so if he puts his arms out, that hand is under the car, where the cop can't see it, along with part of his side and pocket (?). The cop kept asking to see his hands, so he probably brought that one down and around the bottom of the car to put it out near his chest and that could be where the cop though he was reaching down to his pocket.
"Black people are the only group in America that get put on trial for being murdered" - M.L. Butler THE PROCESS: 1. PAID ADMIN LEAVE 2. SHOW MUG SHOT/ TELL THUG STORY 3. TRAIL/INVESTIGATION 4. OFFICES NOT GUILTY 5. NEXT INCIDENT 6. REPEAT Rocket River
So far most of the time people have gotten worked up about black people getting "murdered" by cops the cops have actually been innocent. Maybe pick your battles better and you won't end up disappointed when they don't hang innocent men simply because a black man died.
They have not been innocent. . the system covered it up and did everything to make it look that way Just because your courts it is . .. does not make it so . . . . Rocket River
Unlikely. A man with a gun who was reportedly already pointing it at someone earlier, is resisting arrest with said gun in his back pocket. I'm not playing armchair policeman and saying he had to be shot or anything, but again armed man, not showing hands, struggling with cops on ground. Seems like this guy made a decision to put himself in a situation where cops could easily be justified to protect themselves. You have to admit this is miles away from a case of "hands up, don't shoot."
