Then you're unreliable. Go take photos of the store today if you really want to base your claims on its window displays. Using three-year-old Bing street view images does not validate your viewpoint, Mr. Holmes.
We have people making definitive statements based upon absolutely no evidence. BTW, here is a picture of the memorial erected where he appears to have been selling his CD's. Instead of the boarded window and ice-machine, there is now corrugated metal siding. Not exactly a direct line of sight. Where exactly did the confrontation take place in reference to the location shown below? Spoiler
You asking me for a piece of firm evidence does nothing to validate your own claims. You seem to think that in the absence of more recent evidence, your three-year-old photographs must be accurate; That isn't how it works.
No but Trump supporters (like Cohete) have wasted no time trying to defend the killing of a black man by the police. It's just a matter of time before Trump chimes in with what is likely to be another embarrassing comment.
But how can you rely on that when it may have been difficult for him to see outside of his store three years ago?
How do you know the confrontation took place in front of the store and not off to the side? What if Alton's back was turned to the store when he threatened the individual? As I said before: so what?
One: I'm not a Trump supporter. I voted for Kasich and I do hope Ryan derails the Trump train before it reaches town where it will inevitably derail. Second: I'm not defending any killing. I'm just saying there is not enough evidence at this time to make me believe this was anything but self defense Third: shouldn't you be more concerned about the new Miley Cyrus-Obama sex music video?
Cohete, I think leroy read your 'them' as 'the police.' Store owner's story says he didn't do that. But, I think you meant 'them' as 'passersby.' The store owner says he didn't see any of that. Probably Sterling did flash his gun at whoever called the cops (how else would he know Sterling was carrying?), but there's no quote that says he pointed a gun at anyone or threatened anyone to try to sell CDs (lol). I think you've 'augmented' the narrative so you can cast Sterling as the miscreant. But, it doesn't even matter. If he did stick his gun in that caller's face and say, "You buy my CDs or I'll blow your mother-****ing head off!" the police still would not be justified in shooting him if he was already subdued.
FYI, he was subdued right on the right side of the yellow stripes which is directly aligned with the front entrance. So, it's quite possible the store owner could see the entire interaction between the man and the police.
Don't see the point of arguing this. I know many a local convenience store whose configuration hasn't changed in 20 years. Whenever we do get a recent picture, it'll show the store looks just like it did 3 years ago, dollars to donuts. But, it doesn't matter. In the first encounter with the caller, the store owner already said he hadn't seen it. In the altercation with police, the store owner would have been drawn to come look by the arrival of cops and the argument. If he couldn't see from the register, he'd have moved to a window, if not step into the parking lot. How many decals he had on the glass is totally irrelevant to everything. The store owner says he witnessed the encounter with police; it's dumb to point at the store front and say that's impossible.
This times a million. How many people are going to see cops wrestling with a guy outside your store and not come look through the window to see what's going on? Who in their right mind would say "well, clearly there's some some kind of commotion going on outside, but those stickers on the windows are directly in my line of sight so I guess I'm SOL."
It's really tiring. He'd gladly argue about the wetness of water given the chance, so pls just don't engage or don't quote at least. The arguing is always much more important than the actual events or topic to that poster. What I seriously want to know: * where is the NRA's statement supporting this man's right to carry a firearm and not be gunned down by the evil government? * just for my own info and those of loved ones, are you not allowed to ask officers questions, even in a respectful way? I guess just keeping your mouth shut and going limp is your best bet for survival these days until you can call your family/lawyer -- does that sound right? I've told this story before, but I was pulled over once in Houston and had two HPD pull firearms on me. (I was mistakenly driving without headlights late at night after studying really late at college). I have thought many times, "what if I'd been black?" I was being respectful the whole time but they were really jumpy b/c my car was so nasty, it was so late, and it looked shady for me to have my headlights off.
Louisiana is an open carry state for people without felony convictions. Sterling was a convicted felon though so he was carrying illegally.
That video is pretty crappy but it does appear to me the guy is still struggling and has one arm free and moving when the first shot is fired
