Did Lebron or Shaq join a team that had the all time record in RS? Did they join the Bulls of Jordan? No? Then what's the comparison exactly? You find it funny? What's so funny about fans- you know..the CLIENTS of the product to discuss about it and have opinions?
k:well, he wasn't joining the rockets. s: he was making a logical deciscion the needs of the many outweight the needs of the few
i don't think people realize how hard it is to win a championship. the toll it takes on your body. It's not automatic for Durant. He might break his foot again or something. It' snot automatic for the warriors. Why shouldn't the best players turn down money to play with each other? It doesn't guarantee squat. Look what happened to the warriors this year. Everyone said the same thing about them, and then they lost. They were beaten. Everyone said the spurs were gonna destroy the thunder, but the thunder beat them. Imagine being Durant. So a few people are going to talk crap about him, even though he's one of the best players to ever live. Gues what? People were already talking crap about him. Saying he choked and all that. Might as well get his ring and have people talking crap about him. Then... he'll probably go back to OKC
Nah, lets stop this right now. You can't compare Durant to Lebron anymore, that's done with. Malakas is right, Lebron carried his team on the Cavs FOR YEARS and got tired of doing so and needed a little help. He didn't go join the Spurs or Mavericks, and he could have. He joined the Heat, a team that was alright and 4 years from winning their title. As for Shaq, no. The Lakers sucked when Shaq joined them and they sold him on playing in a big market and with the young phenom Kobe. Kobe could have been a complete bust. Shaq was still betting on himself. Durant is not, Durant is too scared to bet on himself.
....and immediately signed a 5yr contract extension upon arrival in houston. all clearly orchestrated before said trade.

Maybe Durant is worried about the future of his foot condition, and wants to get a championship before things go south?
Durant to Golden State goes one of two ways: Option A: The Warriors are even more dominant than before and they win the title going away OR Option B: The Warriors regress because of the players lost to sign Durant. Or Durant doesn't vibe with the Warior players. There is literally no middle ground with a move like this. GSW is taking a risk as I don't think they really needed Durant to be competitive for a title. They are essentially breaking up a championship team. I'd have to see the product on the floor for about 30-40 games to know for sure, but I'm leaning towards option A
I don't like this, but if anything, it should increase our chances that players will want to play with a top 5 player like Harden to even have a chance at all to challenge them.
So basically, this is the only specific situation where a legacy is tarnished? Never mind that the universal consensus back then was that LBJ was doing super-friends and it would tarnish his legacy blah blah blah. Fans just make up nonsense. 5 years later, none of it is ever right. Yeah, I do. I find it hilarious - and kind of sad - that no many fans think someone should make life decisions based on the opinions of someone they don't know. Fans basically try to make themselves far more important than they are. You can say that all you want - but the fans didn't make this distinction back then. The comparison is not in what the players did - it's how the fans reacted, and how wrong they were (as fans usually are). The universal consensus was that he was running away from Cleveland to form a super team. It's only revisionist history now that "oh, it was OK because that team wasn't good blah blah blah". Fans just get pissy all the time. 5 years from now, they'll all think something different. 20 years from now, no one will look at the details of his career when assessing his "legacy", whatever that is worth.
Durant was one of the most well liked players in the league. Who was talkign crap about him? And there's one thing some few to talk bad about you and another 29 other fanbases and neutral nba fans being disgusted because you don't have a backbone. It is his right to do whatever he wants. It is the right of the fans to switch off their television because the nba has turned into a joke and never buy again another kd shoe.
That can happen to anyone. You are basically describing a punk move. Yes we all know its hard to win a championship thats the point. He wanted the easy way out you are proving everyone's point, lol.
And I find it funny that you want to enforce your own apathy on to me. Because you don't care why shouldn't I? I am staying awake at night to watch the NBA because of the better parity. Well guess wht? now the nba has LESS parity than Euroleague and even Greek championship. Congratulations. Oh and about Lebron? Most ppl were disgusted because of his self absorbing arrogant and not in touch with reality way he announced his decision. Durant announced it quietly. Too bad it's 1000 times more coward than Lebron's ever was.
