<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!</p>— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) <a href="https://twitter.com/KDTrey5/status/18688294600">July 16, 2010</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
People said the same thing about Lebron when he left Cleveland for Miami but Lebron got his rings and his place in history. At the end of the day this is the right decision for Durant. He will get his ring(s) (although I thought OKC would be favorite to win it all with their additions had Durant stayed).
LMAO buddy this is a sport, ENTERTAINMENT. Who you think pays for Durant to betray his team and choose the easy road in GSW? THE FANS. But it's alright. Because now it will not be anger soon. It will be apathy. And let's see then who pays the bills.
Absolutely, I already have LBJ as a top 5, arguably top 3 of all time, regardless of position. Durant, for all his talents, is unrated, at least for now.
Yeah, and people would still be hating on Lebron if he lost. Instead he beat the greatest team in NBA history after being down 3-1.
Obviously GSW will be very good with Durant. But they were already historically good in the regular season, and were a few bounces here and there from being back-to-back champions. How much better will this really make them? All this means is fewer shots for Curry and Thompson, two historically great shooters. Either that, or Durant has to be willing to be a super version of Harrison Barnes, at 15-20 ppg. The way he is used to playing in OKC, it is hard to imagine him deferring that much.
This. "Legacy is ruined!" Yeah, maybe with [angry, bitter] fans. Dude's still going to the HOF. Have a chance to add 2-3+ rings? Of course it's the right decision for him.
if Lebron didn't go back to Cleveland and won a title his legacy would be much worse than it is now. And he didnt even join a championship team when he joined the Heat. HOF? Durant would be in HOF anyway since he's a former MVP. But before he retires he he has achieved to build a reputation of being a beta coward.
He has a chance to do that with OKC. But now he doesn't have to be the main guy - he doesn't have to worry about choking up a game 6 to the warriors because he will be on the warriors. It is a really weak move. Far weaker than Lebron's move.
Yeah, and also the journalists that cover the sport who then carry on the history. The fans have a say in that history. Again. Jordan is considered the greatest player to ever play, he does not have the most championships. Explain.
Those Miami rings didn't really mean much. Look at how Lebron is viewed after his win with the Cavs its much different. Not only that but what KD did is worse than what Lebron did. You're the top 2 top 3 player in the world and you have to join one of the best teams in history because you choked? Nah man no matter how you try to change the narrative this is the weakest move I've seen from a superstar. This move screams "I DONT HAVE CONFIDENCE IN MYSELF, I DON'T TRUST MYSELF TO BEAT THE WARRIORS". He and the Warriors are lazy winners and they want the easy button and it is at a detriment to the fans.
LeBron was hated but exciting to watch. Kevin Durant was is getting hate and people seem like they will "meh".

I'm curious to see what GS ends up with as a bench. That was one of their strengths. Paying Durant means less on the bench. And, what does that look like chemistry wise? I'm not penciling them in as Western Conference champs right now. But it's awesome to see OKC and Dallas be much worse. So there is that.
