My concern is that IF he is available then WHY is he available? We know his injury history but IMO there are only 2 reasons why the 76ers would trade him:

    1. We offer them a package so good they can't refuse it.
    2. They have determined that he will never recover to the point that he will be dominant.

I think James Harden is the only thing we could offer them if they think Embild is going to recover fully. I'm not willing to offer James so that removes option 1.

In the case of option 2, do we really want him? If so do we want him enough to trade serviceable or good players or picks for him.

I wish I had a better feel of where DMo was at in his back recovery. I also want to see what kind of defense Coach B installs. We don't have any dominant rebounders anymore so we are going to have to rely on team rebounding more that for sure. What is that going to look like with DMo, Capela, Anderson and Beasley? Is Onuaku going to be physical enough and smart enough to be able to contribute as a 19 year old? Can he add rebounding, defense and shot blocking? I don't know. I think some of those questions need answers before we start looking at making a big risk investment for someone like Embild.

This is how Morey acquired Harden, with 10 base hits that he parlayed into a home run, but the haters on this forum seem to forget that ever happened.

Agreed! He has way too much upside. Okafor to me is the player to go after in terms of talent. In terms of fitting Noel is the better player. Either IMO opinion would be a welcomed addition.

Okafor would be the best player for our all-offense, no-defense approach.

I like the way DD goes out on a limb.

My issue is that this isn't thread worthy and only isn't being locked out called out as such because of DD's "grandfather" status.

The thread title and separate thread itself would at least suggest some hack posted some rumor on Twitter. But that's not the case. Instead it's a hypothetical trade target. And guess what. There's a very specific stickies thread for that.

You are probably right, but sometimes players are available because the guy that drafted him is no longer there.

Just look at that release - man if he is healthy he is going to be a beast!

When he came out of Kansas, the NBA comparisions were to Olajuwon. He doesn't have the freakish athleticism that Hakeem did but he is incredibly versatile like Hakeem. Great footwork, post moves and can shoot.

He just has too much upside to let him go for anything other than a superstar. He may continue to have foot problems but the 76'ers have to at least give him a shot to stay healthy. Guys like that don't come around too often.

Agree. Philly isn't trading Embiid. Okafor is probably who get's dealt and I'm sure they'll want a solid PG or SG in return. I don't think we have the right assets to compete for Okafor unless Morey pulls a rabbit out of his hat like the Harden trade.

DD is the first guy to talk about taking chances but then is also the first guy to roast the rockets organization when those chances fail. If you really want the Rockets to be risk taking organization you should be the first to defend them for making radical choices and not be the first "I told you so" guy in the forum. I remember you talking about how Rox should take a chance on Royce White but then don't even mention that you were advocating for him when he flipped out.

Embiid isn't even up for trade are you kidding me if he's healthy he's worth keeping, and even if he's not well it would cause Philly to tank more that's what they want. Okafor is more achievable but considering we just signed Anderson there's no point to getting him.

There are smart chances and there are dumb ones.....nothing wrong with taking risks...Lawson was one you had to take.

My beef is not with the risks so much it is the lack of a PLAN on how to use those players correctly once that risk was taken - particularly with Lawson.

And the biggest beef, particularly with White was the enabling mentality that is pervasive throughout the team.

Anyway, this thread is not about your whining about me, it is about whether we can get Embiid.....that is the kind of risk that we should be taking, IMHO.

And yes, I think Morey's job is on the line and he should be taking some HUGE swings.

I guess Okafor would be a nice piece, if we could get him - but why would Philly trade him so quickly, unless they are not worried about Joel staying healthy?

Noel is the best fit. Only one ball on offense and SOMEONE needs to rebound and protect the paint.

Everytime Morey trades a rookie-scale player for a draft pick (kicking the can), he is taking a risk that the pick will deliver high rewards vs the relatively known ceiling of his 3yr vet.

Morey is very much a risk taker.

    Sorry, DD,

You're looking at the wrong 76er.

    Period.

    He's available and wants out.

Philly isn't the place for him to grow.

You put him in our line-up, and I promise good things happen.

Also, More BIRDS...again (Damn Birds) ATL Shawty

LOL. Not sure he's ever been right on any of his observations. But I'm hoping Noel is at least in the conversation.

I'd love to see us somehow add Ricky Rubio, Kyle Korver and Okafor. I can't see us having assets to do such but time will tell.
