High risk - Yes he is. One I personally wouldn't put my name towards recommending if I were Morey. Agree though the upside could be huge, but it could also be a disaster. I'd prefer the safer option of Noel or Okafor.
Yes true, but 7'2" and 270 pounds of skilled big man are hard to pass up. If they won't trade him fine, but this is exactly the kind of risk I want the Rox to be chasing, not guys that are decent but guys that can make a difference if it pans out. DD
Anyone recall our retired Hero? Our Gentle Giant with the heart of a lion? I want players that have more or less two good feet. Two new often injured, if talented, players on the Rocks seem like enough to me. Understand the desire, DD. We've already taken on enough risk and that's assuming we could get him. In my opinion, anyway. If we can't grab a star, grab some solid two way role players to fill holes in the roster.
Say this trade goes ahead and it costs a mixture of D-Mo, Capella, a couple of first round draft picks. When he is ruled out for a third successive season through yet another foot injury, do you then start saying how moronic Morey was to trade for a big with a detailed history of foot issues?
I would be fine with Capela and DMo going for a shot at a POTENTIAL great center. Especially now that we have Anderson. DD
Crikey. They are two pieces that have proven they can contribute. You're banking on a big man who has not stepped foot on an NBA court in over two years because of a foot injury. I thought the recent memory of Yao would have everyone steering clear of injury prone behemoths.
I don't think it's a great idea. We should not just go after injury prone players. But also injury prone players who don't play any defence. We have no proof yet if Embiid can play defence. When we do see if he can be a defensive sieve and only after that we should try and trade for him.
Sam? Is this you, Sammy? A swing like this has you unemployed and horribly discredited. BTW - - I think you did a pretty good job; maybe better thoughts on the actual development side, tho...y'know, a vet or two?
I'd imagine they'd probably want to give him a shot now after two years of struggle. See what they have. Worth a shot considering his upside vs what they can shop him for. Can he handle the current pace of the nba? So risky given the harden win-now mode.
Yup this!!!! Embiid hasn't played a second of basketball since being drafted. Too much of a risk IMO. If a broken bone in your foot keeps you out 2 years, chances are you won't ever be playing a significant number of games. You maybe try to snatch up players like this, when you have the chance - i.e. not currently under contract or a team hands them to you for virtually nothing (future picks) but I wouldn't trade assets that are likely to contribute for a guy who may or may not see the floor ever.
He isn't available. End of story. Of course, everyone has a price. They think Embiid is their Olajuwon. I can't think of any other realistic scenario other than trading Harden for Embiid. You in ?
As others have already pointed out, Embiid isn't available. Noel and Okafor are available because of Embiid and Simmons and Saric (assuming that he finally comes over this year). Philly has waited two years for Embiid and there's no way that they are going to trade him now for anything other than a star player. His skillset is phenominal. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xlPJ3NAif8Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
