Why is everyone so mad? What did y'all expect? There aren't many "stars" to be had.

I expected a good player to want to play with superstar James Harden, who absolutely did not have chemistry problems with anyone last year

its already been reported Horford not interested in Houston after the meetings. He's picking Boston or Wizards.

Didn't you read the multiple Durant threads... many posters there were convinced, certain and sure that the Rockets had the best shot/made the most sense/were the favorites to get Durant (aside from OKC). They were convinced Stein and ESPN and the general media were just lying, obscuring the Rockets chances! The evil bastards!

im ok with overspending. even if it was a 1-2 year 20mil, 2nd year po, i'd be fine with it.
but 4 years at 20m is way too much. if anderson is the best they can do, they should've geared up for next offseason.
try to make some trades and sign a few guys to 1-2 year deals. sign one of them long term if they demand it.
but dont go all in for the likes of ryan anderson.

not all teams can be contenders. but rockets have a huge advantage over most teams with harden and can easily build a 2nd round team, making them a good choice for fa's.
that should be the backup plan. build a team for the 2nd round and take it from there.

Gotta love making those expectations so you can tear them down and bash Harden and the organization....

Seems petty but that's the route you choose to take.

Your constant negativity then hiding/putting people on ignore lists when someone drops some knowledge on you comes off as very childish. I can only assume you are a millennial.

CF has become a collection of idiots and whiners. There's still some great posters who can post some intelligent arguments for a position.... But Christ.....

Thank you for this thread, OP. I was getting beyond annoyed with all of "they sky is falling!" threads being created. They needed scoring and shooting badly, and Anderson was one of the best players on the market to address those needs. Anderson's not perfect, but aside from Durant, there wasn't a player in this free agent class that the Rockets could have acquired with no holes in his game.

And there's still plenty of time this offseason to add more pieces, make trades and see how the young guys progress. Everyone just needs to chill out and appreciate that the roster is better right now than it was a few hours ago.

I was being sarcastic. My problem is with harden and then Les meddling to try to fix it

Oh Vivi, you are so special.

You're aware that there are 29 teams going after the same small number of worthwhile players as we are, yes?

Standing pat would have been suicide. Morey is doing everything he can to improve this team through various means, not just free agency, as he has for 10 years or however long it's been. He's had ONE bad season and you suggest we bring back the team from our one bad season?

We're in day 2 of FA by the way, for just a little perspective, and we were never going to get the biggest stars. They all stayed home for bigger paydays than we had it in our power to give them. Morey will make this team better. He has done so every single year he's been here except last year when he tried to stand pat on a team that made the WCF but still added a semi-star PG we were ALL happy to have until he got here.

If Morey were stubbornly sticking to things that hadn't worked out in the past, the criticisms of him would be more appropriate. But he has never done that. He is so thorough that he gets better at this job every year and what happened last season was a thing that approximately zero people predicted would be anything but great for us but approximately everyone wants to claim as stupid in hindsight.

The Morey bashing that happens here is more irritating than YOF or LOF. In other words, it's more irritating than anything that happens here. And some people want to fire the guy?

All that happens after that is he goes somewhere else with a fat raise and leaves us with someone considerably less talented.

But yeah, Vivi, since we're not getting all the FA's, since some are staying home for more money than we're allowed to offer, Morey should have stood pat on the only squad of his tenure that didn't work out.

Yeah it's been pretty bad. There were a few players I'd have liked the Rockets to go after, Biymobo being one of them, but there were no franchise players available this summer. We weren't signing a cornerstone player, not sure what realistically anyone should expect. Durant to Houston? Lol, people actually thought that had any chance of happening.

Whom they have coveted for years and who fits into MDA's system better than any of our previous coaches. Sure is going to suck to have a second guy on the floor that can shoot.

    Great freaking post.

It is still early, and trades will be the biggest part of any Daryl Morey offseason.

I am not mad, I wish we had an owner with enough guts to trade Harden while you can for max value. To me it's so obvious we aren't winning anything the next few years and that Harden is going to walk.
