Big name players usually resign with their team. Because they are familiar with the city, have a family there, have been living there for their entire career, and oh can get the most money there as well. A bunch of players resigned and Parsons went to the Grizzlies. Big whoop. When it's all said and done Horford is probably going to be the only big moving piece this year and as of right now no one knows what he plans to do.
Maybe it's good we strike out again and Leslie & Morey get it through their thick skulls that this is NOT a place players want to come and they need to work hard to repair this team and the image. I think Morey realizes this already given his demeanor lately, he's just being Leslie's mouthpiece and cannot help himself to act like everything's fine.
Bottom line: Haren doesn't make his teammates better. He pushes them out. Good players are leaving instead of coming.
This is kind of reminding me of who would want to play with Kobe these last few years when LA kept striking out. I'll tell you who would love to play with Harden - role players and draft picks.
I'm hearing Al Horford will probably sign with the Celtics. Here's another one that looks like he's not coming here. You can't develop talent when it's not presently on your roster. As many of you rocket fans have stated before and after the season ended, "Blow This Team UP". Seriously, we just don't have the pieces to compete, especially in the western conference.
Rookies. Because sitting at home in May/June with rooks is the same as sitting home in May/June with overpaid, aging, B-level "stars". Except one group has more promise.
This isn't a Harden problem or Rockets organization problem. This is a fans with unrealistic expectations problem. When essentially every single team has max-plus cap-room, you have a huge field of competition for every FA, big and small. In a normal offseason, you may be in competition with a handful of other teams with enough room to sign somebody you want, but this year you are competing with 25 teams to sign the same guys. You can't get all hurt that you aren't pulling everybody you want, the competition is just a lot tougher this year. Every time that somebody posts a, "here is the Rockets lineup with FA TARGET A, FA TARGET B, and TRADE TARGET C inserted," I just roll my eyes, because there are more teams in the NBA than just us. Competition. You aren't going to get everybody you want. You aren't going to get most people you want.
Cleveland sign nobody = Nobody want to play with Lebron James??? LOL... What a bunch of idiots you guys are.
Reading this thread made me 20% dumber. Why would you blame the star player when it's the Organization/GM's fault that we have no support system around him, with a coach that does not have a very good reputation because how it ended with his last two teams, and an uncertainty of how the team will look this season. The hate for Harden seems like it comes from casual fans. Anybody that watched the games saw that as soon as Harden would go to the bench we immediately became a stagnant team. The only person last year that could score consistently without Harden's help was Beasley.
It's not all on JH but at the same time players from other teams look at that teams best player and is a big factor in their decision. When Dwight signed here a few years ago people here were saying it wasn't because of Parsons that he signed. It was because of harden and they really had no significant ties together before that whole process. Now that Dwight's gone, which was truly a deciding factor Dwight's relationship with a supporting cast player and his relationship with Parsons or was it wanting to play with a rising guard in Harden.
This. Thank you for posting this! People need to quit pointing fingers and blaming Harden and/or Morey. This is an extremely tough free agency period, and most of the big names have re-signed with their current teams, which was likely always going to be the case. It certainly doesn't help that Houston just had a trainwreck of a season, but why is that necessarily Harden's fault? And where did this narrative come from that nobody wants to play with James Harden? That certainly wasn't the case with Howard or Ariza or Brewer or Josh Smith, etc.
Players want to play here We only hear players want to play with James Harden Houston is a top 5 destination Players want to play for Mike D'Antoni — Delusional Daryl & Les
definitely not another cornerstone. or it would have to be a cornerstone that's been stuck in bad foundation and anything would look better cough:cousins :COugh:
Rockets need players who have no choice where they play...... drafted players. ...... too bad Morey can't draft.
Realistically, I would assume that spot up shooters would want to play with harden... If you're the kinda player that likes to stand at the perimeter and launch 3's... here's the PERFECT spot for you... harden drives and kicks it out to the perimeter pretty consistently... someone like a JJ Redick would thrive next to harden... Otherwise, it's like the last few years of Kobe... you're only going to get limited touches... deal with it...
