So these are the most talented players left in free agency (subtract Wade and Dirk because we all know neither will be coming here). Potential real difference makers Horford Gasol Rondo Potential starters/good role players(Larger list) Spoiler Anderson Deng M.Williams D.Williams Gordon Pachulia JR.Smith Barnes Crawford Sullinger Mahinmi Crabbe Biyombo Afflalo (possibly Jennings) Horford really looks like our last hope, I don't think Gasol would be interested in us, Rondo is a questionable fit with his injuries/attitude/style of play.
His value didn't decrease because of Harden. His value obviously wasn't what it was in NY during Linsanity - but everybody with a brain knew that that wasn't sustainable (also small sample size). Fact is that Lin played his best ball during his time with the Rockets. As for trading Lin to the Lakers with a 1st round pick - that wasn't due to his value, it was due to circumstances - Rockets tried to clear cap space - they had to pay because of Lin's contract. Yes Asik's reputation did increase during his time with the Bulls - but he did have a good year with the Rockets and his value increased. The second year, when the Rockets signed Howard - that's when his value decreased, because he didn't want to play backup. You seriously think that the players on this team would do much better anywhere else? This is not Harden's fault - the org needs to put better talent on the floor and implement a system - period. I mean out of all our players - Dmo was a a good player (when healthy), TJ showed flashed (before all his freak injuries two seasons ago) and Ariza was pretty much the second most consistent player on the team after Harden. That alone should make you think. And look at all the major players who have left the Rockets - how did they do after leaving? has Chandler done any better in Dallas, without a ball hog like Harden, than he did in HOU? Did Ty do better in Indiana than he did in HOU? Did Asik do better in NO than he did in HOU? Did Lin do better with the Lakers/Charlotte than he did in HOU? Did Josh Smith do better with the Clippers than he did with HOU? The answer to all of the above is NO.
Anderson : over 20per and it's a horrible deal Deng: rumours saying he's headed to Minny. Marvin : Charlotte D.Will : Mavs? They got noone at this point. Gordon : NY, Memphis rumoured. Pachulia : I would sign him for cheap. 9 per 3 years? JR : Cavs for sure Barnes : Gonna get max Crawford : Asking for up to 15 per. Sully : nothing heard of him yet. Mahinmi : Would be great if we could get him for 12 per. Excellent value. Crabbe : gonna get paid. Sac wants him. Biyombo : gonna get paid a LOT. Afflalo : NOthing much heard of him. Jennings : worked with Nets and is asking more than 10. Also : Trashquez? C.Lee ? I'm more worried about adding a C right now than a wing tbh.
I wonder If Rondo could revitalize his career under D'Antoni. He has the old school 80s attitude that we desperately miss, and he can really, truly dominate a tempo in spite of his shooting woes. I think his passion and will to win would really rub off on Harden.

All the money i guess  Just not sure why they didn't try to sign Barnes or Crabbe...i mean, young players, they have a core of 20 years old guys and they sign 32 years old veteran role players...it's ok to have veterans around, but i'm not sure Mozgov and Deng are ideal for that role lol
If we strike out on Horford, some players I wouldn't mind having: Mahinmi, Lee, Crabbe, Affalo. The list is pretty short. We definitely need to get another big man.
This contract is worse than Evan Turners. Deng is old and has health issues. The two worst contracts in the league so far have been given both by LAL to Mozgov and Deng. Amazing. Lakers are like a loose canon right now.
Do we throw stupid money at Crabbe and see if Portland blinks? Why not at this point. I would absolutely contact E Gordon to gage his interest in teaming with Harden in the backcourt. I would keep hoping for Al Horford and I for one am not shy about Ryan Anderson, he is what he is but a big that can stretch the floor has a lot of value.
Brewer occupying a roster spot on the Rockets does not look great at any price to me. He is a progress stopper for guys like KJ McDaniels, Sam Dekker and Alasandro Genteli (if we bring him over) IMO. If he is such a reasonable contract, lets see if we can off-load him for something, anything, even a 2nd round pick and cap space.
yes if you compare it to the two worst contracts in the league it looks great. Maybe NOP should look into trading Asik to the Lakers too so they can have all the worst contracts. Signings like that with so many years to old broken players are franchise destroying. And one after the other too. They were rebuilding and with those two now in their cap pretty much destroyed in 2 days the possibillity of being a contender. IMO.

Hope sixers get him. They are desperately trying to repair their reputation and build a decent team after the last GM screwed them.
If he was the team goat farmer, sure. But we pay him money and he takes up a roster spot and then damages the rim and backboard with his shooting. Just not a good situation.
