Still not giving up on Preston Tucker. He's starting to come around.

Yep... he should be a bigger priority than White right now, as far as reclamation projects.

But like White, he let the early success get into his head, and it changed his approach (along with pitchers adjusting to him, and he really didn't adjust back).

    Agreed.

I'm surprised they haven't given Tucker any reps at 1st. He played there in college, and we're still searching for an answer there.

If Reed continues to struggle, I think we will eventually see Valbuena at 1B and Bregman at 3B if he continues to rake in AAA.

You're welcome. Sorry if that response came off as a bit dickish at first read.

Anyway, in early complex-league action, Juan Piñeda has a 2-run single for the GCL Astros in their game against the Mets. An 18-year-old 2B from Panama, Piñeda has shown some good contact skills early in his career.

Woodlands was supposedly going to be for the AAA team, but I'm not sure that is in the cards because Round Rock (with the team possibly moving to SA) will be available following the 2018 season and with the Ryans part of the Astros now, that figures to be the favorite.

i'd classify him as highly likely to be moved in a deadline deal

    I didn't see this posted:

Three Fresno Grizzlies made the PCL team for the AAA all-star team. All pitchers. Brady Rodgers will be starting the game and his teammates James Hoyt and Mike Hauschild also made the team.

Jordan Ray: Luhnow on when Bregman will potentially be called up to Astros

Nothing groundbreaking, really, but here you go.

Will take an injury... or both underperformance by a player + losing games for it to happen. (the latter has to have both... just a scuffling player, but team still winning/in contention, won't be deemed enough).

yep, and considering how long they are willing to stay with scuffling players, that really seems out the window.

i would love to be pleasantly shocked, but there's no reason to believe they will bring him up this season. you really needn't look any further than their handling of Reed/White when they clearly had a chance of being useful last season.

towards the end of last season, they would have fit exactly into luhnow's claim of what it would take for bregman to get called up, yet with an even more obvious positional need in the majors.

Also, how Reed was called up (team was actually playing better, and there wasn't a desperate need for him) basically shows that every player has a set timetable.

Only injury can realistically change it.

I don't buy that injury would change it either.

Plenty of ways to replace injury other than calling up Alex Bregman.

Fine... Inury + being on the cusp of losing ground in the WC or division race + Bregman comintiung to be super-human.

Or they just stick with Worth/Duffy...
