The national media is begging that Horford goes to Boston. Typical biased reporting. They'll all cry if he signed here. They'll bust out their "Horford is 50/50 or maybe he's changing his mind garbage" like they did Howard.

Because it would have killed our chances of landing another star. Would have locked up our precious flexiblity.

If Bosh agrees to sign with us, we wouldn't have had the cap space to even sign Trevor. But we did have Parsons' bird rights, allowing us to go over the cap to re-sign him.

Once Bosh fell through, we had the ability to sign Ariza and match Parsons, which I would've preferred tbh. But I doubt Ariza would even have signed here in the first place without assurances of a starting role

You should do your research before rambling like this.

If parsons or Ariza is a better player none of that mattered because if we signed bosh we could sign parsons back but not Ariza and every rockets fan knew it...

It's simple. If you had matched, then you are locked in to that team for 4 years or so with no flexibility. They thought that if they got bosh, then they would be happy with their team for 4 years and it's all good to sign parsons.

If you don't get bosh, and match parsons... Then you lose all of flexibility. Why mortgage that cap flexibility to field a team that has no shot at winning.

    If I recall correctly...

Teams are allowed to go over the cap to re-sign their own players. So if they re-signed Parsons, he would push them close to the cap and they wouldn't have any room to sign any other decent player.

But if Bosh signed BEFORE Parsons re-signed, then the cap would be spent on Bosh, and the Rockets would be allowed to go over the cap in order to re-sign their own player (Parsons).

But once Parsons signs an offer sheet from another team, the Rockets have I think 3 days to match.

Well what happened was that when Parsons signed the offer sheet from the Mavs, 3 days passed and Bosh still did not sign with the Rockets. So the choice was either match the Mavs' offer and pay Parsons and have no more room to do anything else (which means losing out on Bosh), OR, hope Bosh signs before the 3 days are up and match Parsons. Or, 3 days pass and the team can still sign Bosh and sign another SF.

The Rockets were not going to be strapped by re-signing Parsons if Bosh did not sign. It would have killed their ability to make any moves. And that team was not worth killing your flexibility over.

Feigen said his people and him are very low key. They aren't talking much about who all has meetings besides us and Boston, etc. etc.

Because he was meeting with Houston.

Once he meets with Boston and/or OKC, media will be all over it.

790 shouldn't let whoever it is, I think Brian T Smith, run the helm if he's going to have a BSPNer on doing their Rockets hate. Marc J Spears said Rockets were the problem with Ty Lawson and now that the problem is out of the way we will see the real Ty next year. He said we gave up on him too early. Yeah ok Mr un-informed talking outta your bunghole. You didn't watch him play and you might also want to check how he did for the Pacers. Then he said our biggest need is PG which we're weak in cause of Harden. Let me know when other team's SGs set the table for others at 7.5 assist a game. Let me know when Curry averages 7.5 assist per game. Then he says he doesn't see the Rockets in the playoffs next year. Well good. Last time BSPN talking heads said that we ended up in the WCF.

Edit: oh and he said we used Howard wrong because of lack of PG and because of Harden. Oh please. He was getting way too many post up touches but wanted more and refused to PnR where he and Harden are unstoppable when they do it.

I know people want to see us just sign somebody this year, but that's probably not a good idea IMO. Unless you get Horford, signing these middle tier FA when they won't push us over the top is how you are stuck in mediocrity forever.

Might be wiser to wait for next year's FA class which has Cp3, Blake Griffin, Westbrook etc
