Let me guess, you like scaring little kids about hell and telling them that they are born sinners amiright? Like I said in the 3rd post of this thread, MadMax would be a better spokesperson in this thread. You've gone full on zealot.
I can deal without his type of perfection then. I'm pretty sure I understood and still do. It's a ****ed up system created by a pretty sick deity. Hard pass.
It could also mean that Jesus was telling people that they didn't understand what they were doing in their dogmatic application of old testament laws. I mentioned earlier about some of the earlier evidence of that from the old testament, and additional support from Jesus' own teaching in the new testament.
This is Christianity in a nutshell. I can sin as much as I can because I will go to heaven because I believe.
Holy crap how did I miss that...dude has serious mental issues. "I can do w.e I want because I am already forgiven"....talk about arrogance and psychopathic tendencies. I wish the best on that poster, but he is mentally very unsound.
When I was 16 and working at the Kemah Boardwalk one really slow, cold night, some guy (maybe upper 20s?) came up to me and told me that if I repeated his words of prayer, I'd be guaranteed admittance to Heaven no matter what. "No matter what?!" I asked. "No matter what," he answered. So I figured why not. I have the ultimate get out of jail free card. Come to think of it, that might be the last time I made an at least somewhat sincere prayer. Interesting.
Then you get into the extremist beliefs... ones who take context, which is very subjective, and create a whole new belief structure off a couple scriptures and throw the rest of the bible out the window. Now I dont want to compare them to Islam extremists verbatim, but Islam extremists do the same things to justify their violence. For example: Now one could draw multiple conclusions from this verse. And with different variants of the Bible, the meanings can change greatly. As you can see, this individual believes the Old Testament is still the law. By this logic, since Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for being wicked (sodomy), once could continue to further state that its ok for all gays to die. (Im not suggesting people here believe this, only that once can easily tumble down the rabbit hole) I can easily read it as Jesus was part of the prophecy and he's not here to destroy, but create a new path. Personally I was raised in dogma and as I grow older, I find it completely disgusting. I respect peoples beliefs until they start intruding on others.[/QUOTE] Sorry to break it to you but yes that law still stands. Just because you find it wrong doesn't make it so. I don't think he cares one bit what you like. LAW IS LAW. some people are not meant to follow- its easy and simple i don't over complicate anything.
Well, he was wrong on one part. Just saying the words gets you nothing. Believing them buys you an eternity.
Yeah, the Southern Baptists taught me that, and I thought it was awesome. "So I can pretty much do whatever I want now, and still go to heaven?" "So, like, Hitler could be in heaven if he just said the right poem and really kind of meant it?" Sign me up.
The first question is do you admit you are a sinner? If not you do not get it. If so there may be hope for you yet.
Not wrong just misunderstood. Reading the word does create faith. Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. since most don't truly go deep into the Bible in church the only real way for some to gain faith is by praying and reading( Hearing the word)
I could be wrong but based on what he said, it sounds like the guy asked him to pray the sinner's prayer without truly teaching him what it meant.
