I hope we are quietly going after this guy. I honestly think he would be a great starting pg. His game would work well in a MD offense. Could get him for a smaller contract and push more $$$ for some other FAs. I know that Conley, Rubio, Rondo and others are more known names, but trust me that this kid can ball.
You have a total of 6 posts with a name called "Pants store". I can't trust you... In all seriousness, we should be looking for replacement of Bev, not his backup.
Then who do we get that's available that fits this new offense? To elaborate, this is a guy who can shoot, pass, hit free throws, and isn't a basket case. His D could be a little better, and I'm not at all saying he is the best PG in the league. I'm just saying that this guy could be a nice option for us. Not a lot out there right now. Btw, it seems that Conley is not going to give us any attention, so he might be out of the running.
The organization is pretty confident with Beverley running the point and would want a backup according to Calvin Watkins.
Great post the Pants Store. DJ Augustin is a steal uf we could get him. Hr tore the Rockets a new one a couple of years ago and I remember watching the game thinking that he is one of the best unknown players in the league. I was huge on Isiah Thomas as well before he was popular and have the same feeling on DJ!!!
Augustin would be a decent room exception option if we traded for or signed a real starting PG. He would be a decent 15mpg backup PG. Thats not our case currently, with Beverley, we need a really strong backup, or a weak starter to pair with him in order to have a decent rotation. It a perfect world we could get a real starting PG, and have Bev come off the bench, he would be one of the best backups in the league.
We should be focused on Rondo then, he's the only pg that's get-able. He's won a championship dealing with the egos of KG and Paul Pierce so he would command the respect of Harden. It's too Nash similar. Do it Marley
I agree. This is a weak free agency for PGs, a big need for this team. I like Rondo and Lin over Conley because of the cost savings. The real solution will probably be to upgrade other positions in order to create the ability to trade for a PG. Having only a mediocre rotation level PG on the roster right now is pretty scary, but I don't think we should panic if that's not resolved immediately. There's still time.
