Rockets Players who have worn #35 Montrezl Harrell Scott Padgett Lonnie Baxter Earl Cureton Zaid Abul-Aziz KD????????
I'd rather take a chance on him than Troy Daniels. Sure Daniels can shoot the ball, but that's pretty much it. If he's not shooting the ball well, then he's essentially worthless to the team. He plays no defense, is undersized for any position, and also lacks the ability to drive to the basket. Last thing this team needs is another player who has the ability to shoot, but can't do it consistently and can't provide another skill to help improve the team.
Guys calm down, the situation is pretty simple. We do not need a formal meeting at this point, because our "meeting" already happened two weeks ago in Arizona when Durant and Harden met. James met with Kevin basically to know what his position regarding the Rockets is/was, and he came back to Houston knowing for a fact that Durant is willing to come play for us IF certain conditions are met. What these conditions are exactly, only they know for sure, but most likely the main condition is "improve the roster" Durant knows that Harden is a better player than Westbrook and he may be OK with some of the other guys in our team like Ariza, Bev, Beasley or Capela but overall he surely thinks that the Thunder have more depth and to move here he requires us to make at the very least one significant move to put us over or at least on equal ground with the Thunder. That being said you need to understand that he is not Plan A, he is Plan B! Our Plan A is to first land a free agent that makes us better plain and simple, and we need that player for us, not for him. Once (if) we get this player quick enough then we will have our official meeting with Durant showing him an improved roster with Harden, the new guy, and a overall good team that with Durant on board and a few other minor moves, veterans etc. could be a real contender. But who is plan A then? All signs point to Horford, he is an excellent player and one that Durant has said he would love to play with. This is the main guy we are going to go hard after. If we land him Durant will seriously consider us, but even if he still decides to go elsewhere we would still be a better team by signing Horford, we dont sign Horford to land Durant, we sign him because he improves our team and this is why i say that he is our plan A, a guy like him both makes us better and gives us a real shot at Durant. If not Horford then maybe we will go after Whiteside, and ironically although there is a possibility that because of his age and skill set he may end up being a better player than Horford, unfortunately there is no indication that he would be appealing to Durant. Still we go after him because he makes us better, if Durant comes or not is secondary, we need to improve our team with our without him. Bottom line stop b****ing about us not having a meeting with KD. We dont need it, we already know what he wants. We need to land someone else first and be better, and if that happens then our situation changes dramatically.
Dude, while your logic is sound, it's 100% speculation. You have no idea what KD said; he could have said that he's not interested in playing for Houston. Or he could have said, we'd have to improve the roster. But this is all just speculation; we may not get a meeting not matter what we do. We've dug ourselves a hole and as a result we are missing out on the best free agent in years not named Lebron.
Meh, isn't part of the fun in sports really about thinking about the unlikely possibilities? Only one team wins a championship any given year.
Of course its speculation, but you said it yourself the logic is sound, because it is common sense. This dude gave us the best possible meeting a free agent of his caliber can give us. He met privately with our star player, who also happens to be one of his best friends, three weeks before the free agency started and he told us what he wanted first hand. Yes he may have also told Harden that he had no intention whatsoever to come here regardless of what we do or who we sign, that is also very possible. Bottom line we dont know either way and at this time it comes down to believing whatever you chose to believe. Because of little things here and there I chose to believe that he told us what he wanted and that at this time there is no need for him to meet with us again unless we can provide what he wants. Others like yourself chose to believe that we are doomed and not matter who we sign or what we do he is not coming here, that is fine. Anyway that doesnt change the fact that WE ALREADY HAD OUR MEETING, and whether he was absolutely negative about us and is not sign with us, or he is willing to come here if we make some moves, he still did us a solid by meeting Harden and giving us a very private and intimate heads-up. The other thing that is absolutely clear is that we are going after Horford. We are not meeting with Durant again, we dont need to!! We are going hard after Horford, and we are doing that because he makes us better and if we get him, or someone like him while Durant is still free then we will knock on his door again.
Even if it is speculation...that's probably what happened. If you guys do this, I'll consider. We are on the outside looking in for sure but to think Durant didn't give Harden a heads up is pretty short sighted. There's also a really good chance that all of this is BS and KD just wants his ego stroked a little bit before he just goes back to OKC.
So just dreamcasting here, but if we were to max out Horford, and let's also say we were able to trade sone combination of Ariza, Brew, Beverly, young talent, and picks for a really good starting PG; I'm sure that would get KD's attention. You think Morey has things lined up? Maybe, hey stranger things have happened. I think he's staying in OKC or going to the Warriors though.
Ranny is dead on. Durant is Plan B. Or more approptiately Plan A2. Or maybe Plan A4. Plan A1 is Spoiler BATUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!! Spoiler Do you want speed? Spoiler Do you want shooting? Spoiler Do you want dunks? Spoiler Do you want steals? Spoiler Do you want paint and rim protection? Spoiler Do you want ball handlers? Spoiler Do you want great passing and ball movement? Spoiler Do you want to switch everything defensively? Spoiler Do you want our own lineup of death? Spoiler Do you want Durant? Spoiler Harden Spoiler +Batum Spoiler +Rubio Spoiler +Noel Spoiler = DURANTULA!!!!! Equals CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER!!! That's three great shooters, three great defenders, 3 great passers, four great finishers, ball handlers at every position, and everybody can guard multiple positions. This is an MDA run-and-gun team with built-in defense. With Rubio, Batum, and Noel we would accidentally play defense. All they need is some scheme coaching. You want to see our opponents turn the ball over? Run this group out there? You wanna see a 7-footer fly up and down the court and drive opposing starting bigs crazy? Put Noel on the court with these guys. It's all there. This lineup with a little meshing is championship worthy. And it starts with signing Batum. If we build it he will come. In my humble opinion Les, Morey, MDA, and James should be ringing Batum's door at 12:01 Friday morning.
I seriously take some posts in this page as sarcasm otherwise I will begin to wonder about the future of the human race.
I agree with this approach of Batum first 100% worst case scenario we have a fast pace team with room to add a star next year best case we have the best team in the league.
