Yep, CF layed off bigtime, huge step in the right direction And there was plenty of ammunition to jump on
That's still on him. You cant take it with 2 strikes and pitches being so close to the zone. We have the benefit of watching the zone on tv...but guys strike out all the time even when the pitcher misses by an inch. This isnt "unlucky" for Reed. He just currently sucks at the plate.
Several guys could pitch today though including Feliz Harris needed to throw though, if not he would have one inning in 9 days which isn't good. He got his inning, off tomorrow and plenty rested for the weekend
yeah i know he hasn't got much work lately, but i just feel like it's a waste with a 6 run lead. i'm not a huge fan when closers get put into non-save situations. they always seem to get hit since they pitch with a different mentality. i probably would've gave sipp some work, see if he can get his groove back. *shrug*
You're ridiculous. He was probably already warmed up, there is an off day tomorrow so Harris will be fine. Also, what does an inning of rest do for Altuve? He's not 37 years old and there is a day off tomorrow, once again.
When Altuve was going through the 0-18 'slump' earlier this year, does it mean he was sucking at the plate? People just like to point it out because it is the first 16 ABs of his career, not just some random time. It is much like the Astros first month of the season struggles when people just assumed the team was awful, when in fact it was a combination of many things.
I hear what you are saying, but can't have your closer go that long without pitching This is what makes managing a bullpen so tough, you go through periods where you need guys every day for a while, then you have to find them a ace to get some work in.... In any case, another win and the pen will be fully rested for the weekend
My bad, I failed to use the sarcasm font. Also, I don't care what the record says, it's hard to count this as a "win" when we had a team whip of 1.67. 1.67? Disappointing. Won't somebody please think of the children?
Hes still only a year and a half removed from a career season, adds a calm veteran presence in pressure playoff situations and would probably come cheap. Giles has the upside but would any of you trust him in a playoff game, coming in a 7th inning with the score tied or up 1? His time will come but it doesnt look like its this year. Send him down and let him work on whatever he has to work on.
That is NOT true, in the 6th Giles was throwing in the bullpen, meaning, Feliz was NOT going to be used. Why use Giles to end the 6th, so he pithes the 7th also? The only reason Giles was warming up was because Feliz was not going to be used. Also, these are the games when we are winning by a lot of runs that you use your relievers that need to get better, and Sipp right now is our worse reliever, but he is good. He just need to pitch in these kind of situation, so he improves when we need him later on in big situations. Why Devenski yesterday with that lead? Or Harris today with that lead. And no Sipp?????? If he is not injured, then he was not used correctly
I hate it when they show that "best record since May 22" graphic because even though the Astros are tearing it up, the Rangers are STILL doing 3 games better. And we all know where those 3 games came from.
