Disgusting if KD goes to GS or SA. Modern stars only want to sign with teams that are fresh off of championship rings already.

I guess they feel no pride, or shame.

Not after what they'd have to do in order to get him. They'd have to completely gut their roster. The fact that they are even bothering with a meeting is pretty odd.

That comes off as a loser attitude. Saying we're better than the Knicks is suppose to mean something?

Also, if Harden wasn't my favourite player I'd much prefer Lakers situation over ours.

    Now get gone.

I kinda agree, and i think they'll end up with Pau anyway, but even with a short roster they would be better than the Knicks, better players, better fits, better lockeroom, better organization overall...can't even compare honestly.

Great players value great organizations and teams - players forever have been trying to stack teams from the playground, to AAU, to College, to the pros.

    Nothing new here.

I'd still easily put my money on him re-signing with OKC for a year and returning to the free agency discussion again next year. He may have said that he doesn't care about that, but he'd be leaving a LOT of money on the table not to sign a four or five-year max deal next season rather than this season.

If that happens, the Rockets still have a shot. But they have to make some big changes to the roster this offseason and make a marked improvement on the court next season.

Wish we could go back to the days of the 90s where the top teams had like 2 superstars, the mid teams had a superstar + near all stars and the bottom teams had future superstars/all stars with the exception of the very bottom 3.

Right now, it's just top teams with no middle class and a bunch of bum teams who maybe 2 of which have very bright futures.

That's why it's easy for me to be on the trade Harden while we have leverage side of things. If Morey can't build a top 6 team, what is the point for the next 5 years? Hope we run into badly injured teams? Right now, Harden could probably get you Karl Anthony Towns who to me is a sure shot superstar franchise player who will be coming into his own by the time the super teams of today will be running out of steam.

Not sure why you'd believe this.

The Bosh and Melo situations were different. We had meetings with those guys...we basically HAD Bosh on our team for an hour or two...

So far, if the sources are correct and they could be completely incorrect...but if they are correct we have no shot and not even getting a meeting. You think Morey is not going to meet with any other players that entire time? He's going to be trying to sign one other big name to entice an interview with Durant.

That's why Durant dragging this out helps us. It gives us a chance to sign another big name to get that meeting and if he still doesn't consider us then at least we had our big signing who will likely be a player that all those other teams going after Durant would be after.

Or maybe they are smart enough to do what's best for them instead of what's best for us? It's kinda why the older stars fought for unrestricted free agency in the first place.

This could be all a perception scheme and a marketing ploy.

If Durant just outright re-signs with OKC, then sure he's a great guy. But if he goes shopping around, builds up anticipation, then comes to the conclusion to stay in OKC, it's kind of a better story.

I mean what are teams actually going to tell Durant in these meetings? They're not gonna talk about numbers, his team knows those figures. How he fits in? It's Kevin Durant. He will start, he will get his shots, and he knows the players he'd play with from playing against them so much. He knows the cities too.

every single team in the league is different in and out and how they operate. What are they going to tell him? You tell him things that are associated with the significance of your team and the city. Thats their job. You stand out by finding something that you believe can interest him and go from there. Contrary to your belief, KD does not know every single thing you just mentioned. Just because players play again each other in a season does not mean they know each other and he does know what each city truly offers

I may have exaggerated the insignificance of the meetings, but I still believe most of whats said in the meetings won't come into play. You could be right, I don't know what happens behind closed doors. But to me, I just think its Kevin Durant; he either knows or needs a little more time to decide, not to be convinced.

Like when Lebron went back. Sure Cleveland is his home and all, but he knows they have Kyrie Irving, a great trade asset in Wiggins, a couple young players and no real bad contracts that will hinder the next couple of years. Hell they even hired a coach that he probably knew he would have no interest in playing for.

i mean i believe half these teams are wasting there time as well because realistically, they have no shot in getting him but a lot of these players do enjoy the FA process and what it all entails, especially with this being KD's first time ever going through this. It could be something hes just taking in and looking at as much as possible. Also, these guys do have their own jobs to do respectively, and not even making an attempt to recruit KD doesn't exactly seem logical especially if hes willing to listen.

Yeah fair. Its interesting how some teams go about it. I live in Toronto. Throughout the past few years I would hear fan boys talking about how Durant may come here. How he is best friends with Drake, tight with Vasquez from high school, him and Derozan are tight now, and how people are loving Toronto. Obviously I laughed at all this knowing its as ridiculous as the homers ridiculous ideas on this forum. Either way you don't hear a peep about the Raps chasing any of these guys. They could use a superstar like Durant or a power forward like Horford. Maybe they realise chances are slim to none and don't want to hinder their process of re-signing their own.

That wasn't an argument or counter, just a random point.
