That was absolutely the worst part of that whole statement, but it gets glossed over because of "drugs" and "rapists".

Wrong. Trump's speech, in which he mentioned the wall, is the absolute reason why anyone is calling him a racist. Trump has many conspiracy theories and one of which is that the Mexican government is purposefully sending people to the US. While there may be some precedence for that, I thought it was the most bizarre part of that speech. I personally don't like his rhetoric about attacking terrorists' families or Barack Obama was born in Kenya, but I think there is a bit of truth to some of his statements regarding Mexico. The country is in the middle of a cartel war which has killed tens of thousands, caused hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people to physically move due to fear, and has weakened the Mexican people's confidence in their government's ability to keep them safe (thus spawning vigilante groups). Most people have glossed over his conspiracy in favor of projecting their own assumptions/beliefs onto what he said. You can see B-Bob's statement several posts back for emphasis.

Context is important, some of the illegal immigrants are good people, most are not. However, even if all the people crossing over illegally are bad people (technically they are breaking the law, so on some level they are all bad) it is still a small portion of Hispanics in Mexico. To claim Trump is racist against Mexicans or Hispanics in general with this quote is quite a reach.
Like I said believe whatever you want. Why does that even matter since he definitely made bigoted/racist statements later about the Judge born in Indiana who supposedly couldn't do his job because of his ethnic heritage? Even if you disagree that the wall reasons were racist/bigoted, it doesn't matter because Trump later made racist/bigoted statements about a sitting Federal judge. So it isn't like anyone calling Trump out for saying racist/bigoted things is off base. He absolutely has.
Racist because it is engineered to appeal to a common stereotype and fear people have about Mexican immigrants for purposes of leveraging and reinforcing those beliefs for political gain. It is actually contradicted by the data and is untrue. Some are criminals, but not at higher rates than citizens. The courts will not even entertain a legal argument for recusement based on the the race, ethnicity, or nationality of the judge. Trump did not even dare to make this argument to the courts, and only made it to the newspapers because the courts will not tolerate racism like the American public obviously will. Just the opposite really. I think B-Bob did a beautiful job of drawing this out. Trump says stuff and we can all interpret the message loud and clear. It's obvious what the message is regardless of the grammar of the sentences. An attempt to do some textual analysis to parse the 'real meaning' does the opposite -- it reveals the plausible deniability Trump built into his speeches and misses the forest for the trees for what he obviously implied and we all obviously inferred.
538 has spoken, gives Trump a 20% chance of winning https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...e-of-becoming-president/?ex_cid=2016-forecast
You guys (you know who you are) keep doing whatever you gotta do to justify voting for Trump. It is amusing.
Oh come on. Trump listed three different kinds of Mexican criminals there. We can reasonably infer he only meant 1/3 of that group are rapists, not MOST. So therefore, Trump- definitely not racist.
Also too, I love seeing li'l t and tj on the Trump Train. It's going to make this election cycle so much fun.
That's another one of Trump's conspiracies: that La Raza is out to get him. Perhaps he hastily chose to assume one La Raza group is the same as the other, or perhaps he chose to believe that all La Raza groups are the same. Either way, he wasn't insulting a particular race or ethnic group but instead attacking a judge through Twitter.
Well, still not safe enough for me. It is, however, lower than Corey Brewer's chance of making a 3 point shot. Wasn't that bad a prediction, actually. 60% chance for winning means they are pretty evenly matched. And it turned out to be a very close game.
[Wholesale Post] The Trump defenders keep moving the word "some" around in that sentence. "Look, Donald didn't say "all" Mexicans were rapists or criminals or whatever, he said some were. And that's true!" or some variation of that quote. Except he DID use the word some in his quote; to describe the ones that were "good people." (Again, he assumes) The only people trying to strip his quote of its original context are the ones trying to defend him.
Again, though, it's strange to keep talking about that comment. Because if someone can twist it in their mind that it wasn't racist, it doesn't change his absolute racist/bigoted comment toward the judge from Indiana. There is no defending that one. For those arguing about the rapist immigrants comment, they aren't really arguing that Trump hasn't made rapist comments, it's like they are just arguing how many he's actually made.
