How can anyone seriously want to give a huge contract to a player who can't stay healthy? The Rockets are desperate, but not that desperate.

    :p

Kind of the way I feel. I don't hate him for leaving I just don't like his personality. But if he can stay healthy he'd be a nice fit. It's all about the medical though. And we can't max him out.

Morey so mismanaged the Parsons situation it's not even funny.

I like Chandler's game... it's just the injury issues worry me, and then having to pay max money for a guy with injury issues and major knee surgeries makes me double worried.

If we could see the future and knew he wasn't going to have any problems with his knees or back and it doesn't affect his ability on the court, then yeah I wouldn't have a problem with signing him for max. But with those issues, I'd have to pass if he wants the max.

Yeah that's what it may seem like, and who knows maybe that's what it actually is.

Now I don't know how accurate all those reports/statements were, but they sure made it seem like the Rockets didn't really have much of a choice, since Dwight wanted HOU and HOU wanted Dwight.

According to those reports the Rockets merely made good their promise to forego Parson's fourth year. Dan Fegan, who at the time represented both Parsons and Dwight, wanted Dwight to go to Dallas.

If Parsons were healthy, I could ignore his dickbaggishness and warmly welcome him, but he seems brittle and unlikely to improve as he ages. Too much money to risk in that oft-injured body.

interesting. I guess my point of view is if we didn't see Parsons as the 3rd piece, i don't understand why we didn't move him for some solid picks or players when we had the chance; ahead of the RFA situation. We were only willing to pay him crazy money under certain conditions, one being that we were able to use our cap space to bring in a max guy like Bosh. But that wasn't in our control, so when forced to use our cap space on Parsons we balked and lost him for nothing. It was a very risky strategy to pursue with our best asset not named Harden.

No for purely basketball reasons. Oft injured players in a running 7 sec or less offense would be a disaster.

His max is what, about 20% of the new projected cap space starting in 2017, right? Which used to be what, close to $14m in 2015? Probably not.

I'd do it for a 1-year deal though. Nothing else to build to.

Chandler wanted out because he wanted to get paid, and be a star. Now, he wants even more, even with his injury history. I believe his ego will get in the way of playing with Harden.

There is no need to go after him.

Because the Rockets saw him as the 4th piece and were going to make him that after they signed Bosh. Once Bosh opted to stay in Miami, we were left with Parsons as the 3rd piece, which wasn't good enough (and would make us very poor defensively).

Parson's shooting and secondary playmaking skills fit well next to Harden, but not his defense.

If we thought we got a steal with Ariza at half of Parsons contract, do we really want to pay 3x Ariza's contract for Parsons?
