Fiers, Devenski (thats how Hinch is using him) and Sipp can pitch multiple innings. Last year we had Roberto Hernandez as our long reliever (and did ok) and Fields who pitched more than one inning. Usually a team has 1 long reliever, and a guy that can go more than 1 inning. Do we really need 3? I think Feliz should be the guy pitching the 6th, (i think it should be the 7th over Giles, but, it won't happen) Giles 7th, Gregerson 8th and Harris 9th Fiers or Feldman as our long men
Feldman really look good, and Fiers is struggling lately, i think we should give Scott another start.
This is a pop quiz for you guys, there is a player that is distance family of Correa playing for the Giants right now, and is not Angel Pagan, who it is???????
Fiers was not a long man option tonight. I'm just trying to tell you Hinch has Devenski/Feldman as long men and Feliz as a 2 inning pitcher. You may not like it but that's how it is. I can see this is going nowhere. Good Night
Just throwing a random stat out there for anyone interested. Fister leads the team with a nice 2.45 ERA in June while Fiers is at 2.86 for the month.
Why not use Devenski then for 2 innings if he is the long man? I don't see Feliz as a 2 inning pitcher because then you can't use him in a second game, or in 3 games in a row. I just see Feliz as a very important piece that should always pitch when we are ahead by 3 or less late. Now, Hinch is not using him much like that, so at least, give him the 6th. Don't waste 2 innings with 5 run lead. Now, on a game like tonight, ok, if the game was tied, or winning by 2 or 3 runs, then i am ok of using him 2 innings and sacrifice him tonight and he can't pitch tomorrow, but with a 5 run lead? I disagree
Interesting number, and i do like Fiers, but Feldman is really pitching very good. Lets see your numbers, yes, 2.86 is very good but a whip of 1.341 and 5.7 K per 9 inning. Last 2 games he has a 1.80 ERA, but a 1.70 whip. This is not taking a shot at Fiers, this is just saying that Feldman is really doing a very good job lately.
Another random stat. Michael Feliz pitched in consecutive games on May 10 and May 11 against the Indians for a total of 4IP.
Another is that Trout's OBP was .500 tonight. Had he been intentionally walked 4 times it would have been twice that.
If we continue to do that, we are going to kill that poor guy, or not have him in big games because he pitched too much. And, leading by 5? Why a second inning winning by 5? Maybe Feliz is not as good as i think, maybe i am just wrong about the pitcher. Then again, i am also wrong about Devenski because he is only used when games are won by us or the other team.
Another great game overall tonight. Let's finish the sweep tomorrow We did get CANGRED though, maybe he will have summer school tomorrow and won't be able to derail the thread
sad that true astros fans can't finish the game because of that thing called sleep. fell asleep in the 8th. just 35 minutes earlier, mlb.
