RIP, what a great coach. Didn't know much about her save for the few highlights I'd see on TV years ago.

Seemed like a very dedicated person, reading about her early struggles for her team during the early years.

Man, that was a lot more aggressive than I had any clue it could be.

Rip. My grandfather has dementia and it's a horrific disease that robs the identity of a person. Its a great burden on loved ones who become the caretaker.

RIP one of the greatest coaches of all time of any sport.

Noticed that both she and Buddy Ryan passed away from Alzheimers. Horrible disease.

It seems that it is more aggressive the younger the victim is. I dated a girl whose dad was diagnosed in his early 50s and he deteriorated very quickly.

My mom was diagnosed around 4-5 years ago at close to age 80. Physically she is relatively healthy and mentally has not deteriorated too much since then. She has lost the ability of simple, familiar concepts like initiating a phone call within the past year or so, but knows how to talk and listen on the phone. She does need help with hygiene but can feed herself and walk around on her own.

My good friend's father was diagnosed a year or so after my mom at about the same age and he passed away Sunday.

    It's a tough disease.

    RIP. Legend.

Never knew that she had a 100% graduation rate. That in itself is impressive. Don't know of any other coach in the history of any collegiate sport that could claim such a thing.

    RIP

fwiw: Notre Dame routinely has 100% graduation rates for their entire female athletic program. Now, one coach graduating as many as Pat Summit is a different story. Also, Notre Dame has had years of 100% graduation rate for their football team. I want to say Jerry Faust graduated everyone who didn't transfer. Lou Holtz had a good record, too.

Digger Phelps had a perfect graduation record spanning 20+ years.

It's great to see how much coverage and praise that Pat Summitt passing is getting. It's a great recognition that sports is sports and greatness is greatness even among men's or women's.
