When she started whispering to Ned I was like "For crying out loud just say those 3 freaking words so I can hear it!" Then she finally said Promise me Ned, then the shot of the baby and immediate cut scene to a zoomed in picture of John, /fist pump.
Wow! Just wow! So many years leading up to and waiting for this reveal and it did not disappoint. This could have fallen flat in so many ways and yet it somehow even managed to exceed my expectations. Bravo
Agree about the music. Fantastic. We just don't get that in TV or even movies anymore. I also wanted to say that the music during the Battle of the Bastards was also great (the battle scene, I mean). I was surprised no one mentioned it last week, probably because the scene was so epic, the music just becomes part of it rather than something you take notice of.
Yeah I was annoyed that they kept some of Lyanna's words quiet, but pretty much confirmed what people have been theorizing for 10 years now. And then the cut to Jon's face was great too. As good of a transition as the simplicity of Tommen's last scene. Those northerners will just about say anything as long as they get to chant it.
Thinking this out though, the Lannister's won't rule long, they are broke due to their gold mines being tapped out, they have no real army of their own, their alliance with the Tyrell's is over so they no longer have that Army and they no longer have Tyrell gold to fund things, The Frey's have been wiped out so who knows what their forces will do now that there are no more Frey's to serve and who will run the Twins? Maybe Edmure takes over? There's really nothing keeping Dany or Jon Snow from marching into King's Landing and taking over....other than the White Walkers. So, while this seems like a triumphant moment by Cersei, I really don't think she bought herself much time, she just got her last remaining son killed so she wouldn't have to face judgement by the clergy.
Lannisters have no heirs...just like the Tyrells. The great houses are scorching their direct line dry before Dany even hits ashore.
Wow - clearing out the landscape for the great war in the north with the wights. Amazing episode, about cheered when Cersei blew up the High Sparrow's sanctuary, but did not think she would kill all those people as well. DD
Gotta be among the best episodes of the series. I think last week and this week are two episodes I need to re-watch cause so much was happening. Such a strongly acted episode too, and it wasn't the dialogue either, save for Lyanna Mormont's speech. So much was conveyed in their facial expressions.
Yeah but at least with Jaime still alive there's still some hope of a Lannister heir in the future. With the Tyrells there's no hope of that, the Frey's are totally gone, the Bolton's are totally gone, Robin is the last of the Arryn's, Edmure is the last of the Tully's, Gendry is the last of the Baratheon's....but he's probably still rowing......yeah there's not much left
Now that I think about it, there's probably more Starks than just about any other great house, how funny is that given how things were looking since season 1?
the writers were definitely sending characters into the wood chipper out of necessity (TWD does this also, but even less artfully) too unwieldy for them to juggle all those plot lines, hopefully fewer will mean better quality surprised Mel didn't suffer the same fate
Well there is no great adversary other than the white walkers, Lannisters are weakened with no real strong ally. The Tyrells are gone, the Dorne won't challenge. Mother of Dragons really just needs to wLk in. Jon will marry her family member. It all quite predictable. Not much left except the grande fight with the wLkers which I could care less about.
Couple of things: 1) Varys is all over the place 2) isn't bran technically lord of winterfell now 3) the citadel seemed a bit too Harry Potter 4) dragons and ships! 5) John has quite a few connections on the boats coming. Tyrion in season one-good dialogue. Theon. Aunt dany. 6) kings landing is more and more irrevelent.
