welp *****, I don't expect a comeback now with this K zone & Kennedy having their number blah on to the next series Pleased with taking two and winning the series
I'm just a believer in the 3rd time through the lineup blues. The numbers are staggeringly different once they get multiple looks against a pitcher.
Someone should had been pitching in the bullpen when the inning started. Ok, you get the homer, but after the hit, he had to be taken out. You have a rested bullpen, 2 to 1 is still a game you can win. Now 4 to 1, with that bullpen, the game is over, and Hinch is responsible for that.
Why weren't you saying that before the inning started? Once again, you wait until after the fact. Stupid Hinch should not have started Reed today - right?
You have a great point there, and hitters are hitting over .300 against Fister in the third time around, so you are completely right. So i would let him start the inning, but working a pitcher in the bullpen starting the inning. You allow the homer, on a very bad pitch, ok, but once Alcides Escobar gets a single, YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM OUT. He did not, it cost us. Hinch is responsible for that.
That's true. But if that was the rule to live by, no one (except the elite guys) would ever go deeper than 6 innings. Instead, sometimes guys do...depending on how things are going that specific day. And to me, Fister was looking very solid today heading into the 7th...which the numbers support.
At some point if you are a contender for the long haul your starters have to be able to get through 7 innings and 100+ pitches without letting the dam break against good competition. It didn't happen today.
Dude, it was not that he started the inning, i agree with that, but we needed a reliever getting ready, thats where Hinch made the mistake. You can defend him all you want, but stats are stats, third time around they are hitting over .300 against him, and he did not had ANYONE WARMING UP, that is a mistake. First homer, ok, second homer is on HInch. Sorry, i say the good, the bad and the ugly.
I'm not being dramatic at all. Just stated my opinion. How often have we seen our starting pitchers this year go deep into games and finish with scoreless innings? It hasn't been very often.
That is the problem with our pitching staff, we don't have number 1 or 2 starters right now that can go deep into games. Even when they are pitching good, they don't go deep.
