Why has Barkley not sued the Rockets over that $3 million? Why have the Rockets not sued for libel?

So, why did he sign the 8 (or 9) million dollar contract? Why didn't he hold out for the 12 he claimed he was old.

Wonder if there is a statute of limitations on this kind of stuff. Could the NBA open up an investigation for something that long ago? The infraction is just as serious as what Minnesota did.

The sad part is how optimistic we were when we got Pippen, we thought it would be Dream Team

That's literally the million dollar question. My guess is the best offers anyone outside of Houston was offering him was 7 or 8 million, and Les caught wind and said-

"why the hell are we going to overshoot his market value by 4 or 5 million? Why not just offer him slightly over market?"

In Les' head, he thought back to the agreement a year earlier, and convinced himself the agreement was to pay Barkley over market value... not necessarily 12 million. In Les' head, he thought he was being generous when really he was being a lying cheap b*stard.

This one decision... 4 million dollars (or the same amount that Les paid for the rights to Sergio Llull, and the Chase Budinger pick) has cost the Rockets more in Public bashing after Public bashing by one of the NBA's most listened to voices than any other thing in the history of the franchise. Not to mention the fact that they really should have gotten busted for dealing under the table and lost multiple first round picks as punishment since Barkley opened his mouth and exposed them.

What a stupid f-ing move by Les, but you're right that Barkley could have rejected it, but my guess is that it was the best offer Barkley was getting for that one year contract.

Barkley and Les, they deserve each other.

We fans don't deserve any of that dirty laundry.

More importantly: Why should you or anyone else care?

People like Barkley, he's on TV every NBA season.

when he goes on TV and talks about the Rockets that goes to a national audience.
Also, I think if players know that a big star like Barkley got screwed over by Les for doing a noble thing like taking less money so they can get a big star, they would hesitate about signing with the Rockets.

Every team in the NBA can pay players, why pick the Rockets if Barkley is right?

If I was promised one amount for a future deal and got shafted later on...Im sure most of us would take the high road and move on.

When the difference is 3 million or so...Things change. 3 million is a chunk of change. I can totally understand his resentment. That being said, its not like his addiction to gambling wouldve saved him some coin. Barkley lost much of his wealth because of his own problems.

his gambling has absolutely nothing to do with his employer lying to him.

he would be gambling even if his employer gave him the promised amount.

why he's pissed off at the Rockets has nothing to do with his lifestyle choices.
