the dude played in the CBA where D League players are stars. this dude is a project, he's not going to be NBA ready for a while.

I gotta admit, after watching his videos I'm more than a little intrigued. The guy looks highly skilled with good athleticism and freakish measurable. I was expecting a bit of a stiff but the guy moves more like a guard. I have no clue how his game will translate to the NBA but if he can add some strength then I see no reason why he can't be successful. I'm excited to see what he can do.
This was Yao just before he was drafted. I don't need to remind you how the forum was like when he was drafted?
Yao Ming was also the #1 pick in the Draft. Not anywhere close to a second rounder. All tall Chinese players are not Yao Don't forget that Yi sucked big time and people were going nuts on Clutchfans about him remember this? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=135964
DMorey: Like I said in interview, I did NOT confirm that Zhou will play for NEXT season. I have NOT talked with his agent, I don't know what his plans are. But I believe he will.
At 7'2" 210lbs, he really isnt any thinner than Ralph Sampson was (7'4" 220lbs). I could see him get up to the 225-230lbs range, but you guys that think he can add 40 or 50lbs are not being realistic. No, he is not going to help us this year. But the odds were against anyone else at that slot position helping immediately either. Its a bit of a hail Mary pick (high ceiling, low floor). But portraying as a marketing only pick is being very cynical.
Never a fan of Yi. Another tall Chinese player was drafted this year at 57, and I doubt he will ever play in NBA. But I've watched basketball long enough to know that Zhou Qi is different. Humble and hard working like Yao, with longer reach and better coordination. Drafted at 43 and you guys are still complaining?! You don't know what you've got ...
Look at Yao's lower body though. Its kind of looking at a puppy and his paws to see how much he/she is going to grow and fill out. Zhou's is still very thin, and doesnt have a frame that will fill out like Yao's. Then again he wont be a center, he'd be a finesse pf.
Even back then, you could see Yao's legs were like tree trunks. No one could move that guy out of the post, including Shaq. There's not going to be another Yao Ming. But if this guy's upside is Porzingis, that's a good gamble in the 2nd round.
His floor is not but his ceiling might not be what Morey imagined (he said possible starter) Pat Beverley starts for us and would not on a lot of teams. Top 120 player and that is optimistic for now
Yi couldn't dribble twice without turning it over in offense. As a stretch 4, you need to be able to attack the basket with the ball. Defense end is even worse. Again, thin frame and short arms. As a 4, you can never overcome this.
