If we acquire Rubio as our starting point guard he will win over true Rockets and basketball fans with his pure point guard play. If we trade for him it is because MDA and Morey have convinced Harden to modify his game and play off the ball when him and Rubio are in there together. Harden's scoring will increase. His assists may drop to around 4 or 5 a game. But his turnovers will drop greatly. And his defense will improve significantly with more steals to further offset his turnovers and make him a true MVP candidate.

Rubio will do all these things for Harden while playing stellar D and dishing up the ball for everybody in a much more efficient and team infusing manner that will make everybody else look better than they really are.

It would take about a month for the tide to roll out on all the Rubio dislike with only the stubborn, stupid basketball ignoramaces remaining in Rubio hate mode.

Will it happen? I don't know. I'm very disappointed in the inflexibility and stubbornness that Harden exhibited last season. It will take quite a sales job to convince him of the above. He's almost as stubborn as you Roxtia. But not quite.

.........So there's a chance! [que up the dumb and dumber memes].........

...I still think that something isn't right here.
If Rubio was available for whatever, some ok asset, why wasn't he traded to the Kings who have 5 bigs and only a backup pg?
Or to Philly who was after Teague and Hill?
Or why Kidd hasn't traded 10 for him? I am sure he wouldn't be able to help himself.

So it's very likely that if Rubio is indeed for sale the price asked is not mild at all.

The Rubio/Pek rumor is true. You either have to give up more assets for Rubio by himself or less assets if you take on Pek.

I'd want Dieng back if I had to take Rubio. Not Pek.

If it's indeed true since there is no available good pg in FA for them, I don't see why he isn't wearing Sixers jersey already.
Was a Pek+Rubio+ 26 too little for minny?

And what's the panic with Pek. Wasn't he supposed to medically retire and be completely off the books?

Sixers on a different time frame. You know that. They also just drafted their point. Simmons is going to be given at least 2 seasons to develop at the top. He's already ready though. Pek played last season. Cannot medically retire until at least February. And can only medically retire and be cleared off the books by Minnesota. He cannot be cleared off the books if he is traded. Thibs wants him gone so he's got cap space to work with. This thinks he can add Noah and one other big name to the kids and KG and have his team playing his way. Now that the Butler deal didn't unfold (he wanted Butler for Rubio/Lavine/Mohammed/pick, not Dunn), they have eased back on the Rubio/Pek deal.

Thibs is going to try to pitch Durant, Batum, possibly Barnes, along with some bigs (Noah, Festus, Mahinmi, and .........possibly one or two others ;)) to add to the KAT/Wiggins core that will give him his great pressure defense. Thibs is totally committed on the defensive end (we already knew) and the Wolves are going to reflect that. If he gets done in free agency and trade what he wants to get done this summer they are going to be a handful to deal with.

Rubio will end up with HOU or, believe it or not, Chicago. He is 100% out in MIN and Houston wants him (just don't know how badly).

Also, taking on Pek's contract isn't ideal, but it would allow us to dish out a not-so-good contract as well (Brewer). The Pekovic part is just me speculating but the HOU/CHI landing spot for Rubio is from my "sources"-- a couple of non-essentials within the League.

Take it for what it's worth.

You're not an insider and you're not Jim Ross.

My sources have confirmed that Morey doesn't think highly of Rubio.

Never claimed to be an insider. Ever. Went to UT and became friends with a kid who is now in the Rockets organization (basketball side) and a another who is with the Mavs advertising team. And I know a couple of ex-horns hoopers who seem pretty looped-in and have no reason NOT to talk (they don't play pro ball). Those are my sources.

Just reiterating what is being heard.

Les: "We got Payton's kid...now what? Do we need a point guard?"
Morey: "It....would be a need yes"
Les: "Who's available? That Conkle kid?"
Morey: "Conley? Yes he's available. But Rick Rubio is available..."
Les: "Ricky who? Sounds like some Telemundo singer"
Morey: "He's really good at making passes and his defense is very good. As good or even better than Bev"
Les: "So why is he available?"
    Shows Les this picture:

    [IMG][/IMG]

Les: "God almighty! Did someone menstruate all over this picture????"
Morey: "But look right here....that corner 3..."
Les: "............and that's what we do right? Jack 3s?"
    Morey: ".......yes...?"
Les: "Get me Ricky Martin! Now!"

Hmmm, wouldn't mind taking Pekovic back if we get to dump Brewer. At this point Pekovic after just reading the Noah/max thread I wouldn't mind a backup center on a 12 mill deal for Capela.

Get Rubio/Pek, I wonder how we match contracts

Beverley, Brewer and KJ + 1st?

We'd be good, just sign a backup PG, and a quality forward in free agency and we wil be set.

Why its just 4 mill per more and its the same length? Plus we need a backup center anyways, and will have to dump Brewer because we need shooters at SG/SF/PF if we get Rubio.

You can stretch Brewers deal and its a 2.8m hit.

As bad as Brewer is, he is better than having no replacement.

Also there is the major issue that Rubio is ****ing awful.

Yeah, just terrible. He was a very good post scorer when he was healty four years ago, but already very slow and bad on defense, now he can't even stay on the court...just stay away if you cannot make is contract unguaranted.

Yeah, still 4 milions more for a guy who can't even stay healty, can't run, can't jump, can't play defense...i mean, i understand that this may sound crazy, but Brewer IS BETTER than him lol.

Brewer can at least get into the game.

Pekovic's injuries? Foot and CHRONIC Ankle issues.

But yea, lets hope the next CBA will include another Amnesty provision so we can get bailed out of that contract!
