You're up in Irving. I'd suggest making it down to Addison or Deep Ellum, plenty of restaurants. Any type of food in particular you are looking to try?

I had Crown seafood for dim sum the other day and it is horrible. Other people tell me they like it there but maybe it could be the chef that was working that day. I hope they can make it consistent and it is a nice place.

Lol Golden Island, I remember the first time that guy opened his restaurant he came over to mine and said "We are going to make you go out of business and shut you down" in Chinese of course. Didn't say anything back just smiled politely and he is the one that had to close up shop eventually.

Also don't ever go to tokyo one buffet next to bellaire. That was some of the worst food I have ever eaten. It was what 30 dollars for the buffet. The oysters had the worst taste ever and the crawfish weren't fresh. Just an overall bad experience.

I don't really have a favorite place right now. It seems all dim sum places will start off great and then fall off. I use to work at kim son in the fountains location and back then (13 years ago) the chefs were all chinese and made it the right way with no shortcuts, but that all changed. Regal seafood off of 59 is on my list to try there dim sum.

I went with my bro and his inlaws the first time and the dim sum at Crown was dam n good. So the next week I invited my gf family and hype it up how good it was and the food was so horrible. Thanks Crown for making me look good.

This is actually the best dimsum I have ever had in Houston, is at Regal Seafood. No one makes dim sum like how it was 10 years ago, I swear that everything they have in the back is just frozen dim sum they order and they just heat it up per order. Notice how these places don't use the push cart anymore. They just do it per order.

Such a good point. Nobody pushes the carts around anymore (in Houston at least). I could see a bunch of manufacturers making a bunch of frozen pre-made stuff and sysco pushing the hell out of it to restaurants.

Regal is now on my list. I miss the Dim Sum restaurant on the second floor that was above Dynasty supermarket. That place was a weekly ritual with my parents every Sunday, waiting in line to get a table and actually choosing off the carts. Damn, I miss that place.

Wow that really sucks. That's what makes dim sum so enjoyable: pick a few fresh little things off the cart, share, repeat.
